Aye good one DS - you just erased page 33 from Friday morning onwards... the poor DS readers have just missed out on details of tonight's STV OPT OUTs among other things that Kezo eludes to.

Hey Kezo maybe someone at STV complained to DS about page 33 (mmm...maybe an employee that posts on here and defends them all the time).
Let's call it Page 33 Gate instead of Watergate. |

In relation to the above comments, would someone from DS Forum Support have the courtesy to post on here with an explanation of why page 33 was deleted. Or maybe we will just email this question in the next few days.

Midsomer Murders ad this morning....
Is STV seriously taking the joke here?? ... they still "advertise" this programme with a "voiceover" trying to be "posh/snob" about it
![]() ![]() EDIT: Midsomer Murders STILL John Nettles - no surprise there then |

I have no time for anyone who says "I am not interested in a programme" but then if they are interested or interested in other progs. that are not shown on STV - "well I can access it through ITV1 va Sky". Totally miss the point these people - selfishly forgetting hundreds of thousands are unable to access via Sky or Virgin because they have neither, nor do they have access or want to watch it on a (buffered) 15" pc screen.
A case of "I'm alright Jack I can access it - I don't give a monkeys about anyone who can't."

2 of the STV co-produced Perez Hilton docs have been sold to the CW in America
http://www.deadline.com/2012/02/cw-p...rity-specials/ And I read on the ratings thread STV isn't the only Scottish channel with questionable opt-out choices, with BBC1 Scotland replacing Empire with Motorway Cops last night |

At least Empire is being shown on Sunday night (rather than 18 months later!) and I guess Holby City next Monday at 9pm is better fare than Motorway Cops - but I know what you're saying. |

I am not against an ITV region like STV operating independently of ITV1, obviously the SNP government in Holyrood would try to block and ITV takeover, it's more a case that they put low rating regional shows on instead of ratings hits that far more people want to see. STV would be better employed showing its regional shows in the afternoon and in weak rating night time slots such as 8.00 pm and after 10.30. I could imagine the uproar if Take The High Road was still existing on life support and they showed it over the Coronation St tram crash. ( TTHR is still the image many people outside Scotland have of STV, producer of slow parochial dramas aimed at the elderly, or at the other extreme no punches pulled, violent cop dramas like Taggart).

also I am sure STV management never heard of "low rating" shows but have heard of "popular" programming .... The only programme that was a "success" originally at 5pm was "the hour" but after being on for 2 years it became annoying, repetitive and as for its presenters .... I rather be on a desert island with my own drink! ![]() Dont say that Glenn regarding "High Road" we dont want STV to end up digging that up also from the grave....STV cannot make programmes they did back then sadly (the only real success and from one member on the forum liked was "vet school" but thats it!). They already revived "scottish passport" but that programme ended up being "for more info check the site" . If STV was seriousin making programmes in "replace" of then fine I would back it but what the "replacement" is just cheap/tacky and buying in from other networksseems to be this management thinks....so really this bunch have got no clue and as for their strategy lets just say comes across as pointless ....they make us think we dont want half of these programmes not shown and I am sure as fate these programmes had massive followers up here but remember this is STV they know whats right for the scottish viewers example "scotland tonight" because of timeslot makes me think "newsnight" by BBC they "try" and be another network and copy ideas and it fails ... I watched that programme once and could never watch again..... |

Only on this thread could a commercial channel showing local news/current affairs over and above the requirements be a negative. Scotland Tonight obviously won't try to be Newsnight (competing with a well funded programme on BBC would be mad), but is providing a distinctive Scottish take on the news. Exactly the kind of thing an ITV Franchise should be doing!

As for Take The High Road coming back, as you've pointed out, it shouldn't be dug up and probably most of its audience would need to be dug up as well as even STV conceded, it's audience when it was cancelled was over 70 and dying out. |
