The return of 'Scott and Bailey', new drama 'Love Life', the continuing series of 'Benidorm' and an update to the marriage documentary series 'For Better For Worse' have all been opted out.

It's definately "for worse" for STV viewers.

The snippet - by the TV reviewer - is headed "SWITCH IT OFF!"

You have to go some to put up the back of the couthy Sunday Post, but as Scotland's widest read Sunday paper to turn on the 'hame channel' speaks volumes.

It is interesting that STV never provide an answer to any of the reasonable criticisms they receive, even from journalists.”

Being honest I totally agree with the post its not better for the viewers of STV its getting increasingly worse .... let me guess its going to take STV the next 5 years to fully catch up with ITV?

STV would be alot easier just to stop showing these "latest" additions and forget them and just start from NOW but heck as well all know this is STV they "know whats best for viewers" and seems to me they CLEARLY don't.

May as well mention I am enjoying the new series of "Benidorm" on ITV1 but luckily ITV are that generous to us up north its on sunday nights 9pm (or +1) on ITV2 .... what I find funny no matter the programming ITV themselves seems to stick their neck out for the Scottish viewers who don't have ITV1 and have STV .... ITV deserve more credit than what people may think but compare that to STV --- STV are the laughing stock not just to Scotland / UK but to the rest of the world....

regarding "criticism" from journalists/critics - the excuse STV will come out with and possibly people are bored of is "we chose whats right for viewers" or "we was right" or "we dont know how to APOLOGISE to the Scottish public so we will continue running excuses and hope people are that GULLIABLE by it"

If the new agreement with ITV starts from a certain date you may find that until then STV squeezes in a whole host of shows/progs. they have never shown! There will be a backlog though as we have still to see... Benidorm/Scott & Bailey/Whitechapel/Cornwall/Love Life/Dinner Date etc.. etc...

so really its ALOT to catch up on .... be on their heads ... i will choose not to use stv.tv/player LOL i'll choose itv.com/player BETTER results and on my PS3 ... STV's decision on not originally screening programmes as far back as 2009 proves that their "theory" has not worked and has BACKFIRED massively and plus with the new programming on ITV to STV so far this year .. ITV win compared to STV

STV Productions has embarked on an ambitious project to turn the story that inspired Oscar-winning film Braveheart into a Game of Thrones-style series.”

"STV Productions" - is anyone else picturing Lorraine Kelly and Michelle McManus with a hand held camera?

Still, IF it comes off, well done them.

Meantime when/how will the back log of missing shows be broadcast? And can we please have a statement to the effect that, contrary to previous announcements, it WAS all about money after all and nothing to do with 'relevance to Scotland'.

Oh god help us .... the cast will be full of Glasweigans drinking buckfast ... I guess they are doing an ITV idea ... as they are remaking the "titanic" which will be on soon ... so STV now wants to do "braveheart"

So really where is "originality" in this ... yes this is the same argument you could throw at ITV also

Yes Bidie it was all about "money" but it was to "save money" and right again there was NO "relevance to Scotland" - it was all just a "spin" to take the Scottish public for a bunch of idiots YET STV failed to acknowledge that people are deserting them to ITV1 or waiting to use the other ITV channels.

As for this crap they are playing at it doesn't help their image thats one thing - people I speak to already have clicked onto this and find it a disgrace why STV put Scotland now "second" to see all these NEW dramas that have now started - I think STV has got its own priorites more wrong than ever.. I understand if there was a timescale of when these new dramas will appear ie Scott and Bailey but to be 3 YEARS LATE on an old drama airing NOW - nobody can't say thats good for STV to show that now surely? STV may as well rebrand itself as STV Gold (home of showing dramas up to 3 years old)

This will work, STV are making it but are NOT paying for it... just like old times :P

I thinking they are paying the price HEAVY on showing old dramas however if you look at "the fixer" dated 2009 funny that this was when "underbelly" took its place and was heavily advertised.

So in reality STV sacrificed UK drama to go buy Australian drama? - shows you where STV "invested" in for the UK didnt it? For them to say these placements to "relevant to Scotland" is more unbelievable than ever before and more ironic is they NOW want to do a "braveheart" drama now ... right ok could have done it back in 2009 if you thought about it back then but you didnt - your just basically copying an ITV idea and hoping it will be a success ... what happens if it fails or ITV wont show it? (If they say to STV - crap) are we going to get the same situation again ... I hope not but I can't see many people flogging to STV over a "braveheart" drama

Seriously STV with their "beyond explanation" and "vet school bites" for 10 mins ... its 2012 STV stop recycling these programmes they are never off screens!

STV will have on next week for their gaps again "scotland revealed moments" ... may as well bring back tom and jerry onto STV to fill in the gaps

EDIT: how OLD are these programmes again?? "beyond explanation" (especially THIS) "vet school" and "scotland revealed" -- I roughly estimate 3-6 years old! and if you include that with the clips on the nightshift - STV home of the recycable!

This "development" deal is nothing to with ITV, if it was the money would be in place to make it now. Stv & their American partners are trying to raise money to make it themselves if no-one invests it will not be made. Surely, a "Braveheart" spin-off should have been made 15 years ago?? More obvious Nats propaganda from Stv.

Oh it could be made by a US Network with STV ... I wasn't jumping the gun in thinking ITV had done a deal with STV regarding this ... just found it more odd this announcement (if its true) they are now wanting a "braveheart" drama, I will agree something to do with a "braveheart" spin off should have been made 15 years ago not now - and let me guess also Politics and STV at again .... STV give it a break on all this "scottish" interest guff - just get back to being a NORMAL TV network staying out of all things political ... but then again STV have SNP in ANYTHING and EVERYTHING they do .... possibly STV are carrying a hidden message anyone got 50p or a Euro to decode the message?

Sorry just been told to call it will cost £1.50 and to text will be £1.03 plus 1 standard rate message - on second thoughts I will leave the decoding and i'll keep my £2.63!

They must have updated it just caught it 5 mins ago on STV now saying "coming soon" ... Oh the "titanic" is getting shown at same time on ITV1 but yet they are unable to show Scott and Bailey and the new drama with Gregor Fisher at time of broadcast - STV playing "catch up" on dramas on ITV1 from 2009 to now is nothing more than a disgrace

I think last night was Nightscreen from ITV1 not nightshift as thats thurs-sun on STV ... still ironic though Nightscreen advertises whats coming up on the ITV Network - I wonder if they advertise the NEW Scott and Bailey and say "not on STV"

Another major cockup on the news at 6 last night, an interview with Olympic hopeful Hannah Miley cut off half way through, went to a still of the new set then started from the beginning again.

Hopeless.

And another at the start of tonight's show, story about city of Perth announcement, live to reporter in Perth, then taped report, cuts from report 10 seconds in to see reporter mumbling her lines, bending down to place clipboard on ground with a wee moan. Then report starts again!!

Comedy gold this show.

So I guess the "technical faults" are still ongoing - may as well switch over to John McKay and Raaj in Glasgow next .... that will be the next "blooper" sounds to me as if the staff in Aberdeen are on "strike" really and can't be bothered with the news now .... white flag has just gone up! LOL

Now they are able to apologise ... it took them til last week to actually apologise ... but then again they relied on a "voiceover" from STV Central to say it ... shows you STV North has no "announcers" ... guess that too was a "hidden" cut...

STV North may as well just throw in the towel and just give us news from Glasgow .... the area's news is getting worse by the week ... and yet STV said "viewers will not notice anything on-screen with the cuts" ... seems like the cuts have set in on STV North and the news has became a farce ... congrats STV!

That's been the case since Scottish Television took over Grampian many many years ago. If it hasn't been noticed until now I suppose it was a sensible saving.

The Scotsman, reviewing tonights showing of 'Bouquet of Barbed Wire' comment rather tartly that the rest of the country saw this drama in 2010.............

Do STV have ANY friends with the scheduling policy?
