Comment: Acceptable alternatives during the weekend afternoons, and an interesting assortment of progs. late at night Mon-Wed. Unsurprisingly though CORNWALL & POMS IN PARADISE drop out of the schedules this week! ”

Shows you though STV cant run a schedule with specific programmes if its weekly to them its fornightly editions ... any chance STV you can run your OWN shows fortnightly and put on ITV programming weekly that would be good!

Also I noted STV are NOW doing a similar idea ALREADY on ITV1 ... the NEXT sequence has now been changed (showing clip of next programme) - ITV1 been doing this for ages and STV are NOW doing it?? What took them so long for that CHANGE to happen?? .... STV as well as shambolic but they are really SLOW with things arent they ... thats what the S in STV really stands for!

STV maybe a seperate company but itself is a CRAP channel anyway ... guess you aint seen the standards fall then on its news then I wonder? ... STV's own programming aint up to standards anyway its all done on cheap anyway so what do you expect?

How is it a load of "crap" thats posted here .... hell I at least see what the channel ACTUALLY is and it aint thinking about what the scottish public want its for their own back pockets and making the scottish public second class people

Also it MAYBE true "they can do what they please" but hell STV cant keep to a schedule never mind the missing programmes guess you forgot that didn't you??

3 points - Going fishing are you? Maybe next time you comment on posts you'll get the spelling right of the word you meant to use. I'm guilty myself sometimes, but in the context of what you've said that's hilarious.

Secondly, If you followed this thread properly you'd realise that STV is a broadcaster that has a recent history of disregarding viewers - but hey ho the posts are carp as you say.

Thirdly, IMO there is no issue with showing a prog. like "Scotland Decides"- the issue posters will have is the quality of the programme. If it's carp then that's par for the course from STV, if it's OK then they're moving in the right direction.

Keep your posts constructive and you'll be welcome here - resorting to denouncing posts as carp will land you... a job at STV. You see that's what they're used to up there....

I think STV should ditch/leave the ITV network, if people want to watch ITV then watch it on satellite, cable with the freedom of ITV to launch on freeview. Rather than STV jumping into bed with ITV, I think it may be better for the viewers if STV competes with ITV. .

I would more than welcome ITV1 on freeview if I can avoid STV .... but STV has not got much in competition really here ... I could understand if they had "like for like" ie drama but this is not even the case, I barely touch STV and if I do its on the passing but come on we all know STV should/could do ALOT better than what it is pulling and thats a FACT!

EDIT: like for like ... example scottish v english drama at the same slots .... not like the recent incident "millionaire" (STV) V "Scott and Bailey" (ITV1) this is how bad STV are even scheduling!

If STV were to ditch/leave the ITV network they would lose all the privileges that come with being a Channel 3 licencee. They would lose their gifted Freeview capacity and also the 3rd position on all EPG's.

And if they did leave the ITV Network what exactly would they show?, outside of news and features they barely make or even commission any programming. They couldn't possibly create a full schedule of the standard they broadcast now alone

I suspect they only make any real money from ad sales on the big ITV shows, much like an individual ITV plc region does.

And if they did leave the ITV Network I can guess who would replace them! They would probably sink into oblivion.

If STV did leave the ITV network and that will not fully happen. They could become more like TV3 in Ireland.

Very complicated if they did. They might lose the channel 3 position. If they succeeded in buying shows from ITV like TV3 they would not be able to be FTA on satellite.

The problem is that their Channel 3 replacement would have first access to ITV's shows and let's face it, their replacement would almost certainly be ITV plc anyway. It's probably all hypothetical anyway, very unlikely to happen.

Your right there MrSirs .... seriously STV need to look at how they show programmes like "cornwall" and "poms" .. I watched "cornwall" as originally broadcast on ITV1 but the treatment STV has gave these two programmes is just shambles .... I note that STV are now bored of "highland moments" and "beyond explanation" now but they rerun again "scotland revealed moments" - come on give me a break here I dont know how many times I have seen these on rotate but this is taking the biscuit - can STV really not do ANYTHING else than put this on AGAIN! .... next it will be "vet school bites" AGAIN! .... ok fair enough we can argue they are only 10-15 min programmes but this is a joke in itself! ... seems to me STV enjoy re-running their re-runs over and over
Mr Sirs

Kezo the tv guide states POMS IN PARADISE as " 2 of 10 ". I don't think this is correct - I think they have shown more than 2 episodes (unless there was a last minute change of schedule) even though the prog. has been going out at odd times every other week.

Heck remember MrSirs its STV for you .... I wonder how many times STV have repeated the constant John Nettles Midsomer ... I hope your right that its wrong on the TV Guide be very stupid of STV to go back to ep 2 for some unknown reason...see this is the problem with STV doing this with programming people DO get confused on whats happened but hey what do I know ... RIGHT?? lol

EDIT: checked STV's OWN site and yes its EPISODE 2 STV have POSSIBLY buggered up somewhere ... maybe STV is doing the "go slow" approach on compared to ITV ... whilst on STV's site the SKY 1 logo has CHANGED/UPDATED .... that logo went out possibly over 6 months ago ... guess STV cant keep up with changes on other networks in their TV GUIDE

FURTHER EDIT: looking on ITV1 for their take on POMS they are at EPISODE 7 of the same series! ... what the hell is it with STV - take on programming shove it anywhere FORGET where you are and START all over again .... They may as well do that with "cornwall" ... the scheduling is no longer shambolic its a farce/disgrace thats for sure! ... and STV is trying to KEEP its loyal Scottish VIEWERS? .... they got a LONG WAY to go to get them back and I am ONE of them ... I am surprised at this and especially for a programme .... I forgot though STV know how to keep THEIR programming in order .... guess we don't need Sherlock to solve that mystery
Mr Sirs
09-05-2012
So if the STV site is correct and the tv guide too, then I wonder if the programme hasn't aired over the last few weeks (last minute change?) - I thought we were up at episode 3 or even 4 - not 2!

If it's a mistake on their site (and tv guide) then like I said I think we are up at no. 3 or 4.

The whole problem is, as you say the fact they will not air progs. at the same time over consecutive weeks. Mind you STV (and I suspect other ITV regions) did that years ago - I remember shows being dropped half way through, or being moved around the schedules etc.. - it's not a new trait.

I am sure when you posted the "opt outs" they were up to 3 or 4?? (check back on your posts MrSirs just to double check..) ... my problem regarding this sort of fiasco it confuses the viewer if they are meant to show ep 4 (in theory) then why go back to ep 2?? ... ITV are on ep 7 and thats NON-STOP where as STV its a gamble ... expect it on a saturday following sunday "disappear" then come back thats not good at all I personally think if STV just stuck with ITV regarding these sort of programmes be alot easier for the viewer! .... it in itself is looking more of a shambles than anything its not benefiting the "STV" viewer really!

EDIT: MRSIRS - LOOK HERE http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...e#post57901321 and you at time stated EP 3 OF 10! ... STV are at the mick here afraid to say .... if they HAVE gone back to ep 2 for some unknown reason I do not get it as ITV are NOW on EP 7 sorry personally I would complain to STV and ask "what are they PLAYIN AT??"

personally I do find that a disgrace if it true if they have gone back - there is no need to do that and if its a "refresher" for viewers wow STV need to take a HARD look at itself as a broadcaster ... this is nothing more than acting the fool for the viewers ... STV try and push more of their own guff onto the scottish public but are able to do that without a hitch but to ask IF and WHEN you want see the likes of "Cornwall" and "Poms in Paradise" on when they will be next to air is nothing more a joke (I understand regarding what the ITV regions done in the past but STV as a station treats its viewers more second class when it comes to programming and anything "unrelated" appears ie Benidorm V Essex and yes thats an ITV2 programme!) STV is looking like nothing more than a "joke" of a channel ... STV management should be ashamed of themselves!

If STV are showing programmes in the wrong order, or wrongly billed, or interrupting them during a run, that's not good, so the fury is understandable.

But Cornwall and Poms in Paradise? These sound particularly English in nature, and not a great loss in the grand scheme of things.

Benidorm v Essex? I think we've had that debate 100 times already. Boring.

I should also possibly point your attention to another ITV thread at the moment, in which a lot of people in England are bemoaning the lack of original local programming down south...

Careful what you wish for.

But if Scottish viewers follow these programmes so what if they are "particular English in nature" ... barely see any scottish competition to these programmes do you?? .... thought not....

The Benidorm V Essex I was merely pointing out that was an ITV2 programme as I caught it on the schedules this week in a TV Guide (not ITV1) so STV sourcing programming they don't even show or relevance to the network ... in words of yourself "right then"

...and why do you keep saying "careful for what you wish for"? ... as pointed out we are only expressing opinions of a broadcaster that has gone to the dogs and treats it viewers as second class ... but you know what I do wish for?? ... I wish STV got its fingers out and actually DID something more productive for the scottish public than just import and make cheap programming and not just that either tell STV North if its staying or going but hell I would more WISH FOR Grampian TV to return and to sod off with Scottish TV as far as I care...

Your points -

Order of programming - Agree - STV are showing progs interrupted/moved around schedule etc... - unacceptable.

Cornwall & Poms - yes, sound English but in the grand scheme of things why show them in the first place if they are being moved around the schedule??

What's boring about Benidorm v Essex discussion - FYI I don't think it's been debated 100 times - the point is STV showed this programme and didn't show Benidorm!

As for the other thread/be careful what you wish for - a lot of us on here would be happy if the original progs. STV showed were of good, acceptable quality - but no it's cheap tat - The Hour (scrapped), Weather watch with Sean Batty (come on), Scottish Passport (not even half as good as the original - STV should realise travellers are a bit more savvy these days), some other rubbish about "celebrities" recycling their rubbish, Scotland's Greatest Album - pathetic IMO.

Where are the short dramas with Scottish writers, or progs. on the arts in Scotland (oh aye that's right - Moviejuice - "let's trot out clips from the latest Hollywood blockbusters" ).....
