Has anyone caught the latest instalment from faulty towers? ... the ad on ITV1 has a "opera classical" theme and what does STV do put on the proclaimers "500 miles" seriously WTF ... yes OK its only an ad for football but come on "500 miles" ?? ... anyone who is into footy correct me in this is Scotland even playing in this tournament? If so we all know what the likely out come will be song choice for this -- Del Amitri "Don't Come Home too soon"

Also I may as well ad it MOSTLY features ENGLISH players and few international players ie "Ronaldo" ... so where is the connection with this trailer its absolutely nothing... but I get it now anyway STV use ITV1 "trailers" and "dress it up" to their standards ... STV needs to get a grip its gone downhill quick and it does come across as the network is ran by 5 year old kids

Comment: The small matter of The Queen's Jubilee means no Poms In Paradise and no sign of Cornwall again this week! There's no screening either of the movie premiere on Thursday night, nor Countrywise Jubilee on Tuesday night.

Interestingly, STV shows Lewis on Saturday, and there's no sign of Scotland Tonight at all this week - possibly because of the Jubilee, or is it finished?

Have STV no local news scheduled on Tuesday?

Is it school holidays in Scotland next week? IIRC UTV Live Tonight if off air during holidays, so maybe STV are doing something similar

Right, here's how I interpret it.

The ITV1 campaign is a typically jingoistic "mon the English" effort which has done things such as reimagine massive England defeats as if the English had won them. This, obviously, would not have gone down too well with a Scots audience if it had just been picked up straight.

From what I saw of it, STV has created an ad which pokes fun at our nearest and dearest rivals, showing a lot of England defeats straight, with 500 Miles in the background (as a bit of a celebration song used by Scots when things go well).

I'm not sure it works as well as it could have. It comes across as a wee bit childish and petty. STV would have probably been better off playing it straight (especially as all the editorial content from its network partners will contradict STV's tone) and let the viewers interpret things as they wished. But they had to do something - they couldn't have used ITV1's content and rebadged it. I don't think it's that bad, and it's better than being in Wales and being force-fed jingoism for another country. (the bulldog with an English flag on an ITV1 Wales ident from some years back being a classic example).

Personally I think if they were going to be humorous about it they should have reimagined the 1966 World Cup Final as if the goal that never was wasn't allowed, but hey ho.

Apologies - slight error on my part for Tuesday. It should have read:-

6.00-6.30pm - ITV: Local News.

STV: 6.00 MOVIEJUICE (rpt) - 6.15 LOCAL NEWS.

So in effect a 15 min. local bulletin in Scotland, 30 mins. down south.

I get your point but this is a channel viewers are meant to take SERIOUSLY .... sadly Scotland didnt qualify for the Euro's anyway so I dont get why STV have any right to "poke fun" at anyone else - its nothing more as you have said childish ... I thought STV was run by GROWN ADULTS obviously not....they may as well use old Scottish football footage instead and have "500 miles" in background - when I watched that ad I wondered if Scotland was IN the Euros hence why they put it on but with running it with English/International players I dont really see how its "fun" or "funny" and I bet its possibly MORE miles to Poland/Ukraine (even combined) .. so really STV have shot themselves in the foot AGAIN

I am no footy fan or England Football supporter here but it still shows how little interest STV thinks of it even in this ad .. like what they did with the "scotland tonight" programme rewording Billy Joel's "We didnt start the fire" but were more than HAPPY to use FOOTAGE (glasgow airport bomber) of that in a Happy song but let me guess the editors at STV just said "aye air it" without the consequences but thats another thing STV are getting good at "making up" songs ie stv.tv/player (sounds like a toddler song not aimed at adults). Heads need to roll at STV if this is the atittude of the channel being "childish" and all be it on them. Heck I thought this was a channel "in touch" with scots obviously far from it (about "500 miles" off from where I am)

Oh I noticed "the unforgettable gordon jackson" was on a SCOTTISH ACTOR .. and what they put on INSTEAD "moviejuice" - couldnt care less if ITV1 programme was a repeat but tonight highlighted a Scottish Actor who appeared in films and the original "upstairs downstairs" ... and I went for "unforgettable"

This is an example of poor scheduling that makes a mockery of STVs "Not relevant to Scotland" policy.

STV's policy has no real meaning being honest it what suits THEM not the VIEWERS .... no wonder they tell the viewers "missed anything?" --- catch it at stv.tv/player ... mind you STV Player is crap anyway it maybe good catching up on programmes "networked" with ITV but for the programmes that aint aired yet or already aired down south - pointless!

EDIT: I think STV needs to do alot more RESEARCH on ANYTHING scottish (if thats their game) rather it be on a PANEL but hey ho this is STV for you ... make mockery of everyone else apart from themselves

yeah lets "take the high road" mrsirs no wonder I tell everyone to use ITVPlayer than STV

who really wants to catch up with "decades old" high road STV would be quicker bringing them out on DVD ... show you how "out of touch" this channel really is and its relevancy policy is nothing more than a joke itself...

Comment: After Lewis made an entrance on STV as "1 of 4" on Saturday (2nd) it's nowhere to be seen this week (why not have shown it at 8pm this Saturday instead of the network REPEATED Poirot? - or 8pm on Friday night instead of the network REPEATED Lewis???!). Likewise, Poms In Paradise and Cornwall are off the radar.

STV decides to follow the network and show a new Midsomer Murders on Wednesday evening.

The only other point of note is no Scotland Tonight again this week (mainly Euro football after the news where STV follows the network) - even on the Tue & Thur they show a movie and Ladette To Lady!

The only other point of note is no Scotland Tonight again this week (mainly Euro football after the news where STV follows the network) - even on the Tue & Thur they show a movie and Ladette To Lady!”

Maybe Scotland Tonight wasn't as great as STV hoped ... there was a programme at the same time that ran weeknights at that time what was it again??? ... oh "sportscentre" ... another pile of crap! .... regarding POMS/Cornwall pretty much sums up how much STV do care in finishing these programmes!

New Midsomer you say MrSirs ... wow STV have got the BALLS to jump ship I wonder when the catch up will happen?? ... Sure as fate I bet the following week (unless footy takes over full schedule) STV will go back to JOHN NETTLES

I didn't catch Lewis that night but I guess STV can't follow up on that EITHER! (unless its timed with ITV)

summary: STV still bugger up programming with no signs of recently started programmes and they mess about with Lewis and Midsomer Murders ... well I guess its time for us scots to give up on STV and just use ITV1! as STV sure can't keep to anything

It's a repeat on ITV1. Maybe STV are taking the chance to 'catch up'?

If STV haven't cancelled it, they are doing themselves no favours. Viewers will get out of the habit of watching. I see UTV are continuing with their extended late news during Euro 2012, delaying the football highlights to 2305 when necessary

The Lewis that STV screened on Saturday (2nd) was " 1 of 4" - ITV showed a football game.

Didn't realise ITV were repeating Midsomer, so as you say this could be the big catch up from STV!!

As for Scotland Tonight - agree, can't understand why they haven't continued it and pushed the football back.
Even on the no football Tue & Thur as said there is no sign of it!
