My cousin has just been an "extra" in Midsomer Murders - so I DEMAND that we Scots get to see that episode so I can look for the back of her head.
![]() Has Angustay been recalled to his home planet? Or did he spontaneously combust when he heard the opening music for Downton????? |

If anything I rather go back to the way things were in the past - as you KNEW if and when what programmes missed in your area but its the organisation of the schedule with STV is they think its more suited to stick on adult content before watershed ie "doc martin" "downton abbey" - ok I wouldnt call scenes "disturbing" or "graphic" but if a programme is aimed mostly at adults surely you stick it on AFTER 9PM not before?? - just seems to me STV have really no idea on how to run the channel or schedule ie look at how they advertise "underbelly" (advertise it during family programmes ie "emmerdale" fair enough they put up warning on it - but at same time it looks like its done on purpose to attract a younger audience or has no one realised that? - oh wait no..)

Hi again Peter - I hope you saw my reply to your earlier post over the page?
![]() Just caught a glimpse of The Hour Goes to the Races - just a glimpse because my jaw dropped so low it changed channel on the remote..... ![]() The pretty and voluptuous Michelle has doubtless caused several old buffers to call for nurse as their blood pressure rises - her stunning blue frock proudly displayed her ample cleavage. She and a fashion expert were discussing the race goers outfits and the camera showed Charles & Camilla. Both Michelle and the fashion commentator referred to them as 'Prince of Wales & Duchess of Cornwall' but, when in Scotland, are they not more usually called 'Duke and Duchess of Rothesay?' |

Both shows have had pre watershed repeats on ITV. On the issue of advertising Underbelly pre watershed. I don't understand your problem. As long as they don't show clips that are unsuitable for that time of the day they are just doing what other broadcasters do. The BBC, ITV, Channel 4 & Sky all advertise post watershed adult programming pre watershed.
pre watershed programming - ok BBC - Casualty Holby City CH4 - Sex Education Show SKY - films obviously - programmes depends but edited before watershed ie NCIS LA |

So it is ok to still advertise it during family programmes? - heck their is a clip a half naked woman at the end of the ad did you not notice that? (maybe times have changed when I was growing up but god standards have went way downhill and I am only 27!) like I said I will credit STV for "warning" viewers its an adult programme but surely it be better nearer 8.30pm at least not at 7.15pm?

Then complain to Ofcom then. I live in England so i would only access STV programmes via the STV player. My point was you seemed to be saying that no adult post watershed programmes should be advertised pre watershed which is nonsense. Even in Cinemas if a 15 or 18 film has a trailer that has been passed as a U or PG it can be shown before films with this rating.
Guess "think" of the children has gone also! Ofcom? - they would not do much unless its actually serious but hell STV have been in bother with them anyway |

It not nonsense ok here is another example music videos - if it contained "adult" themes in it - would be shown after 9pm - music videos nowadays let everything threw

Sadly there are still some that come out with the "Think of the children line"
Hey peter one thing I am not here to argue with you I think being honest STV advertises certain programmes without realising it (ok I admit I aint a fan of the programme and seen it twice and still does nothing and seems like same storyline all over again...) Like I say its at the end of when they advertise it you see the woman half naked but then they advertise it on STV Idents also - heck did you not see "taggart" been shown on ITV1/STV at 4pm?? - STV passed the buck to ITV to say "they were rushed" yeah right! - look at the editing ITV do to "midsomer" its slowed down or taken out (I admit I caught a scene at 4pm on STV was the earlier "midsomer" and the person was "strangling" the kid - yes it was slowed down but I was able to work out what was done) - Just wish more channels think more about standards on advertising programmes and the programmes themselves

I think the line "someone think of the children" is used purely sarcastically these days.
Peter, you enjoy 'Underbelly' - good. What other STV programmes do you like? Did you watch any of the Scotland From Above clip shows? Did you vote for Greatest Scot or sit through 'Greatest Team' or 'Football Years'? These are what we are expected to view instead of established dramas. I doubt many of the STV managers live in homes where ITV1 cannot be accessed - their family members would lynch them if they were forced to accept such cut price shows. I continue to sing the praises of the very enjoyable Vet School - a programme which STV MAKES from start to finish and which would do well in other regions. But this is the only thing I have seen them broadcast as *new* which is not made using old existing archive footage or has been bought in from an English speaking country. |

I think some dont notice it - this has also been my own point everyone can sing praises to what STV had done against ITV but really - what have they done? - clip shows views of scotland and the dreadful hour oh and archival programmes dug up from the grave

As pointed out i live in England so i get ITV1 and i am just grateful i can watch Underbelly on the STV player because i wouldn't have access to the show other wise. Even though i live in England i do enjoy some Scottish content especially that on the BBC. Programmes like Limmy's show and Field of Blood were hugely enjoyable and should have been shown across the UK. Luckily the iplayer means i could watch them. |

Yes, Peter - STV should have been up front with viewers from the start of their financial challenge to ITV. They would probably have been met with a lot of support or at least understanding of what was going on.
But to start telling us that Midsomer, for example, was "not relevant" to Scotland - when episodes are shown every single afternoon to fill the gaps in their schedule, is just an insult to their audience. And then we get half hour shows about the work of Manchester Police - when we have a different legal system up here. How on earth can that be 'relevant'.? STV made a tricky situation worse by being less than truthful with their viewers and then being constantly tripped up when their own statements were used against them. If UK based drama series are not 'relevant', how on earth can series from Australia or the US be? |

In the news today STV counts cost of ITV peace deal Quote:
Broadcaster STV has seen healthy profits wiped out by the settlement of a dispute brought about by its decision to drop major ITV network programmes.
The company made a pre-tax loss of £6.5m in the first six months of 2011................ |

I see that, even though all the other regional news bulletins are just ten minutes long on Monday as it's a Bank Holiday in England, BBC Scotland are rearranging the schedules so they can still do a half hour Reporting Scotland. I'm sure the proudly Scottish STV, who were quick to impress us with their independence from ITV and dropped stuff for being "not relevant" to Scotland, will be doing the same, and not just doing a ten minute Scotland Today and flinging on the network You've Been Framed repeat for the rest of the slot.
Oh, hang on, that's what they are doing. |

Now that the dramas are back the opt outs will be very small in number- perhaps the minimum they can get away with under their franchise terms. They’ll take network stuff at 5.00pm, perhaps show a couple of half-hour local programmes some time in the mid evenings/Sunday teatime, the gaelic stuff and perhaps (as UTV does) a longer regional news bulletin at 10.30 Mon-Thurs.
Will the whole 30 mins be separate editions for the north, west and east I wonder? |

Oh, hang on, that's what they are doing. "Dear Garry Thank you for contacting STV. I have recorded your comments and, in addition, your comments have been forwarded on to both the Head of News at STV and the Editor for their consideration. We thank you for taking the time to get in touch; viewer feedback of any kind is always welcome here at STV. Kind Regards STV Viewer Enquiries" I wonder if they did consider it... Quote:

Saw a trailer for the forthcoming autumn season on STV - it didn't look too bad, until I saw those two dreaded words put together
SCOTLAND'S GREATEST................ ![]() what could it be? Chippie? Highland Coo? Tartan? TV channel? ![]() Nope - ALBUM. ![]() Now, with no previous knowledge of the 'Scotlands Greatest' band wagon, this could almost sound promising. Except it will be ANOTHER trawl round the archive footage library and the same old "stars" giving us their choice before the winner is revealed to be something by the Bay City Rollers..... Can I appeal to all serious Scots musicians to ask that they NOT be included in this tripe? |

Scotland's Greatest Tram Systems......
From the brief clip, Annie Lennox is featured. Doubtless Lulu will appear and unless they take legal advice The Proclaimers will be roped in. I hope those in the ITV1 region who praise STV for their groundbreaking programmes where they opt out of the established schedule take a minute to have a look at the cheap and cheerless dross which makes up *99% of their 'home grown programmes'. STV's Underbelly it aint! (*The 1% is, of course, Vet School!) |

I did say STV will also have two other slots for opt-outs in peak times. I take it this series will go out on 9pm Tuesday?
