Comment: STV celebrates Burns with 2 showings of a documentary during the week, and Poms In Paradise makes a bizarre showing late night Friday (25th).

Thank heavens we have ITV, STV is the parochial joke of broadcasting, live in Edinburgh and have never saw anything on STV for nigh on 12 years preferring ITV/BBC London.

Fact is i deleted their scottish equivalents from FreeSat/Freeview years ago,

I seen the ad WHAT THE HELL are STV doing in that ad ... advertising the "Robert Burns" ad with some "rave" dance tune (seems like a scottish song DANCED UP) .... right if us lot in Scotland are meant to take Robert Burns "seriously" STV sure need to get there "choons" sorted on adverts .... I honestly CRINGED at the ad tonight with that song in background ..... good god who is employed there? the friggin Oompa Loompas or is it the "Gremlins" .... I hear the words "abandon ship" ...

Oh god POMS is back on late jeez criven help me bob! .... surprised Michelle McManus hasn't appeared on Weight Loss Ward yet .... STV are a joke it speaks for itself .... Oh yeah heads up I see ITV have a new series of Scott and Bailey airing soon ... will STV air it or decide to let it fall under radar? (STV havent aired the last series .... possibly ITV3 done that as usual ) .... Oh I so can;t wait for this year with this lot you already see they are buggering things up already and less than a month into 2013 .... STV hitting the fan next I wonder?

It's just a pity Freeview only viewers (self) cannot access ITV unless we go through the pc (ITV Player).




No surprises - remember this is the bunch of amateurs that advertised Downton Abbey with Petula Clark's DOWNTOWN, and their news (featuring the Glasgow Airport terrorist attack) with Billy Joel's WE DIDN'T START THE FIRE. Utter incompetent eejits.

Yes those 2 previous totally surprised me ... I guess STV knows it has no bounds no matter in taste .... just throw it down the gauntlet .... funny how the Scotland Tonight ad is the presenters that do the "talking" .... mind you in saying Downton Abbey ie Downtown to STV couldnt stop laughing on Only an Excuse ... and now on STV we don't have Downton we have Buckfast Abbey (people throwing up LOL ....)

Had a laugh though today speaking to some tenants some seem to think its still good and I even got called a snob! (for liking BBC to STV!) something about having to pay BBC (licence fee) and STV is FREE (yes SKY you PAY FOR as well forgotten that also??) and as for the FREE argument its CRAP the whole ITV Network is crap (ITV3 I would give credit more too) but STV is the worst out the whole lot (including ITV2's TOWIE lot!) ... the whole channel is scraping barrels to the lowest common denominator and yet I would have thought STV would not get as low as it is and it has....QUANTITY over QUALITY on ALL NETWORKS nowadays its sad!)

Just a curious question why does STV feel the need to repeat the Burns programme twice in one week? ... They would have been better just placing it on BURNS NIGHT itself! .... oh wait forgot this is tosspots at STV who have the faintest clue on how to keep it as "normal" as possible unless its one of their(s) (this includes import pap)

STV are "randomly" throwing POMS/Cornwall on when they feel like it (no proper run with it .... good on STV as usual can't stick to anything unless its one of their own ) .... I see Highland Highlights is on AGAIN .... jeez John Michie has AGED since that was FIRST BROADCAST ... how many times do STV need to fill in a 10 min gap of re-run of their OLD SHOWS .... god sake STV its 2013 not 2005! .... shows you how "out of touch" STV really is with its "programming"

I found 'stream 2 watch' online, also mentioned in these forums-the site states its legal, although I doubt the satellite companies would find it is in their minds.. there might be a legal loophole, but if you own a tv license you can at least watch itv live instead of stv. Im sure these sites are becoming easier to find now with the net getting faster. If they do get shut down, another 5 probably pop up out of nowhere to replace it. I suspect once the net gets super fast with very high quality streaming, we may have a new interest for angry satellite tv companies and the courts..

How does a 'TV Licence allow you to watch ITV? Doesn't work on my Freeview. where have I gone wrong??

I hear what you are saying, I forgot that the license really only covers the bbc. I just meant live channels in general rather than itv. I do have a license here, but I do question the reason of having one nowadays when we have so many options. So with the license we then have the right to watch live bbc radio and tv from any device-im pretty sure the bbc player on the net state this before you 'agree' and it starts playing.. You may be right in that it might only cover watching the channels only allowed in your area (eg bbc1 scotland as opposed to bbc1 in a select part of england). I wouldnt be surprised if there wasnt even a set rule yet though. As far as the bbc website is concerned, you can own a tv and not have a license, as long as you do not watch live tv on it (eg only for videogames or dvd movies). An interesting thought for some who may not realize this. If the tv licensing staff who come round to your door to ask you if you have a license or tv, half of them probably do not know this either, and you do not have to let them in either, they are not the 'tv police'.. Ive yet to ever meet them, lol.

I just meant that watching a uk tv stream such as itv online should keep the watcher on the legal side of things if they own a license. If I am paying for one, I should be able to have access to most channels if my device is capable of connecting to them, especially if they were free via a bog standard tv XD If whoever is broadcasting these channels does not have the right, thats their problem, not mine.
As for needing a license, I always used to think a license was just needed for bbc owned channels, tv and radio. There is no clear info, but it would seem that possibly used to be the case, but by gov law it now covers all live channels.
I do question the reason of having one nowadays when we have so many options for watching media.The bbc website on tv licensing is interesting in comparison to the tv licensing official website that gives off a more forceful attitude in the need of having to own a license, when the truth is that you definately can legally own a tv and not have the license. Just dont watch live tv.. anywhere!

Grimefighters appears to be NEVER off ... STV short on programming??? They still throw POMS on randomly now shows you if you followed a programme late night ... you will NEVER KNOW when you will see it again....why not STV start chucking more of their crap on late at least no one will watch it

Ray Mears bummed up as a new series last week - on once, off this week (no show) - what will happen next week? Will it be on - if not, when will it reappear?

No on screen announcements of when it will return - anything on the website? Who knows - do they know?? Do they care?

Oh wait - big bumming up by Raman & STV about their Football live coverage on Tuesday night. That's all that matters in their small world on the Clyde. :sleep:

You summed it up perfectly MrSirs --- and their coverage of footy is crap I rather listen to ITV's own commentary and why does STV do this on these "occasions" they don't do it to an English team and as for using Raman have STV forgotten they have resources in STV North who could maybe well I don't know cover the show instead of Raman ... wait sorry I forget we are the ones getting severely cut .... STV is a sinking ship anyway.

Oh yes I seen that "drama lives on ITV" ad but of course its changed for STV .... I see "Scott and Bailey" is advertised so I am guessing thats SERIES 3 of the show STV have never shown SERIES 2 so what's going on here? (or will i take a gamble here that ITV3 is possibly showing it all) ... STV should be ashamed of themselves its appaling and management needs a makeover!!
