It looks like STV are opting out of ITV drama series DCI Banks from Friday 16th September.

Instead they're showing 'The STV Appeal 2011'.

I have said STV would still kept the opt out going but there have now agreed with ITV when there would be: I believe it could take until 19th September until we get a clear picture.

regarding 7.30pm-9pm (does not sound like emmerdale is even touched) mon-fri (was stv "sportscentre" and that got the axe BUT STV have been showing films at same time as ITV1 at moment)

so at least i guess the soaps are getting kept without problems but if dramas are going "walkies" again when will they be broadcast? (if dramas are in the opt-outs ie 8-10pm on a tuesday)

just sounds the same being honest - well there is an example - england v wales is on ITV1 on tues (i think) and we get the opt outs of countrywise and road to world cup (rugby) and seems like STV are keeping to the schedule (so far)

Also i notice that the NEW series of "the chase" is on BOTH STV/ITV1 (why does STV just run the programme from episode 1 like ITV did? - sounds stupid to me its replaced with "midsomer murders" and then a month or so down the line its back?)

Scotland Today will air at 10.30pm Mon-Thu from some point this Autumn

Most of the time there won't be a Tuesday drama. Tuesday night is a flopzone for ITV most weeks, with mostly cheap factual filler. From an ITV perspective by far the best time for STV to opt-out

You mention "Scotland Today" (I know you would not know all the ins and outs of it) but that title is Scottish TV news so does that mean the "grampian area" news is getting ditched at that time? or would you think it would be kept? - to me its coming across as if they want to properly "phase out" grampian area news (I could be wrong here) - and I gather then it will be covering all of scotland (ie Glasgow Edinburgh Aberdeen rolled into one!) - better yet just watch "reporting scotland" at 630pm!

also any chance yet of the Grampian area news getting an "upgrade" on its titles etc - I caught STV News Glasgow (on virgin media) - looked alot better (studio graphics etc) any word yet of its happening as I do feel like "STV" are really ditching us - don't much care about separate bulletins now but Grampian news does need an "upgrade"

I agree if STV can pull out the stocks for tuesday nights compared to ITV and from their own promotion so far for "autumn" I think I will jump ship (already have with "Underbelly" )

Since when did STV start doing appeals? .... last appeal I remember seeing was back in the 90's when it was all networked broadcast on the ITV network called "ITV Telethon" - where there was presenters from Grampian in Dundee (Diana Speed was one I remember)

I wonder what will be the next STV - the "STV gives us more of your money from phone in appeal" or better yet the "STV make Hain happy" appeal

Going back to Scotland's Greatest .... Hills Mountains Roads Rivers Restaurants Ditches Ship/Dockyard Scrappie (Scrapyard) or toilet?

That would appear very poor but between them did Scottish or Grampian ever contribute much to the network even in ITV's heyday?

I remember some kids shows and Wheel of Fortune but not very much else really. Oh and Take the High Road but I don't know if that was carried by all the regions.

Even Anglia seemed to provide much more than both the Scottish licences as I remember.

Odd that the two 'presented' shows are fronted by Englishmen, I thought STV was meant to be as Scottish as Haggis!

From TV Choice:
STV are opting out of Missing Millions and 71 Degrees North next Tuesday. Holding Out For A Hero will be shown then instead of on Sunday night when ITV are showing it. DCI Banks will be shown by STV, but start a week later than ITV1

I'm guessing the idea is regional news at 6pm, and national 'Scottish' news at 10.30pm. A national bulletin would be ideal surely for covering Scotland wide issues?

STV Productions Antiques Road Trip starts a new series on BBC2 next Monday at 5.15pm

I can guess what the opt outs will be shown instead ... the one thing i cant stand is showing programmes a week later than originally scheduled

Regarding news why not just really scrap the STV six as regional - make that National and make 1030pm regional? or better yet search on the internet on your local papers get all the news there! - or just catch it all on BBC Scotland

Well, no England/Wales football tonight. There's a difference. It's been replaced by a documentary on the Scottish rugby team's preparations for the World Cup, and Underbelly.

Much as I would rather see the England game instead, I have to accept this is one of these circumstances when STV's excuse for getting rid of network programming makes sense. They've replaced a programme of limited Scottish interest (as the Scotland game is being televised at the same time) with Scottish content. The network offering doesn't have the same value to them so they are entitled to ditch it.

If I understand this correctly, not one of the "Scotland's Greatest" or "The Whatever Years" made the list, nor even "The Hour"?

How on earth can STV hold up their heads and bleat about their 'scottish relevance' when Ch4 apparently make more genuinely Scottish shows than they do?

Or have I misunderstood the link?

I almost hope I have because it is beyond embarrassment if not. Of course, recycled clip shows maybe do not count, so that would be 80% of their output eliminated straight away.
