To be honest Wednesday's are an awkward day. families dont watch as much TV as they go to clubs at night.

Itv could have put it on at 6pm on a Saturday or Sunday night.

No doubt we will get the films at some point!

Re the Appeal:- Notice that it's Lorraine Kelly who is the main host next Thursday evening.
Or not at all pending on their choosing

Lorriane Kelly whoopee doo daa (again!), STV that short they couldn't hire someone out of TOWIE or River City

Lorraine is a great choice to host there isnt many other hosts I can think off.

Others that could host
Michelle McManus
John MacKay

Seriously? Michelle McManus/John McKay your having a laugh aren't you? Funny that again most hosts of these shows are basically on the Clyde when do our resources ever get used? Not that often but its a first Andrea Brymer of STV North doing a part (wow its took STV Central that long to realise there is life outside Glasgow?)

Lorraine Kelly - got nothing against her at all but she is everywhere - she is in my local paper just about every week and has a name plastered on a bus too ... genius!

Where is STV's fresh talent ... new faces? Oh wait I forgot they are on STV Glasgow ... silly me, STV in general needs a major overhaul on its image and presenters/hosts - thats one thing the channel needs

I wonder if STV (and channels in general) are restricted because a potential host may be under contract to another channel, or is unable to fulfill due to other projects. This may limit their options. Then of course there's the possibility they are unaffordable or the broadcaster wants to keep costs to a minimum...

Possible others (no groans or gasps please! ):-

Carol Smillie
Alex Norton
Gregor Fisher
Fred Macaulay
Lulu
Lorraine McIntosh (Deacon Blue - acted in River City)
Amy MacDonald
Nicky Campbell

Can't think off hand of anyone "up and coming"...

This may limit their options. Then of course there's the possibility they are unaffordable or the broadcaster wants to keep costs to a minimum...

Possible others (no groans or gasps please! ):-

Carol Smillie - doing "finish" ads now before Postcode Challenge and hosts or presents "finding scotlands heroes"
Alex Norton - hosted Greatest Scot (waste of time of a programme) but not much of him
Gregor Fisher - personally wouldn't mind seeing him back on screen (but again STV highlights "missing" with him in it but nothing more)
Fred Macaulay - Remember the infamous ad for STV Appeal couple years ago "with famous celebs meeting Fred along the way (insert Fred comment and John McKay) - isn't he more BBC Scotland (same with Gregor Fisher possibly?)
Lulu ??? - Remember her appearance in Ab Fab in 90's but again you don't see STV "rushing" to get her ... why not ask Rod Stewart?
Lorraine McIntosh (Deacon Blue - acted in River City), you also forgot Taggart as well where she got whacked
Amy MacDonald - I would say in a way its fresh, I kinda know who she is and heard her music (so yes to this one)
Nicky Campbell - Wheel of Fortune to Long Lost Family (well he is doing ITV so why not STV ask him back?)

Can't think off hand of anyone "up and coming"...

I'll add the info above

I think what I am trying to say can we get different people doing these events than the same ones over and over again its like we lack in talent!

Isn't that STV's job to be looking all the time for the talent or are they bone idle to get new people in (oh wait apologies STV's main priority is and always will be Glasgow anything outwith its area fails to exist unless necessary)

As for STV's case I reckon they'll possibly approach them and ask (say give an offer) or willing to do it for bugger all - and possibly be paid a one off payment in royalties if repeated on say STV Glasgow/Nightshift (thats what I think)

Presenter suggestion why not Angus Purden he basically killed off Postcode Challenge for STV lol

Are stv really going to get the viewers in at 11pm for films? for all we know the current secltions makes more money in adverts than if films were broadcast.

Those activities are not confined to Wednesday nights though.

Celebrity Squares is not getting the audience expected due to it being, well, just a bit crappy.

Have they actually tried or making any attempt in doing so? You only see a film or two a week behind ITV yet they have time at 11pm to repeat anything or let alone show programming that has been missed but of course its STV for you

You also do realise by the schedule especially from a Thursday to a Monday morning why Nightshift is on just after midnight as thats where the money is pulled in from -during the rest of the week its Jezza UK/USA and then close for Nightscreen (how do they make money from Nightscreen?) as an example Mr Sirs posted in the schedule why can't STV not show the Motorsport after 11pm? (oh look the past couple weeks have been from ..... Knockhill in Scotland .... and where is STV in all this? Oh yes ignoring it as usual)

I caught the undriveables its not bad - but again this sort of programming has been done before (Channel 5 has done it before ITV and this included throwing the celebs behind the wheel) but on STV its a +24hr

How is STV repeating Celeb Squares on Wednesday out of curiousity? (listed above 5 of 6 STV whilst ITV 6 of 6?) is this to give viewers a catchup to see it since its been shoved to after 11pm during the week?, I wonder what programme will now be +1 week after Celeb Squares is finished ... better hop to ITV site

Yes I see that - unless it is a misprint in the tv magazine!

Makes sense to try people out where there's less exposure, give them time to find their feet. I'm sure a few from STV Glasgow will do programmes for STV itself at some point. Radio stations do the same - you'll be on overnight slots before breakfast!

Thats true but "local" radio is not what it use to be either, I admit I don't listen to my local its more of Heat/BBC Radio 2 or Wave 102, but my other "local" station broadcasts differently as well as its sister station some output comes from local area if not it comes out from Glasgow (how long til that goes to Glasgow?)

Does STV Glasgow use people from all over Scotland ie use of different accents or is it really default "glasweigan" ?

according to STV's own site they are showing episode 6 of 6 oh well at least I will give them a bit of credit they bugger it up one week but they keep it intact (not messing the schedule around!), pity they can't do this often if they miss a programme just put it on later if its that much bother to delay it a week

I noted you posted STV Real Heroes Ceremony and ITV has Long Lost Family so when will STV screen that? I don't watch programme but if your following this when will it appear?

I am sure STV will make a grand announcement to assist its viewers along the lines of..." for those of you expecting to see Long Lost Family we are pleased to inform you that this programme will now be screened on XXXXXX, with additional opportunities to catch up on STV +1 and STV Player."

After all they are A1 top of the class on customer service aren't they?! They never fail to inform their audience/customers of when programmes will be on/moved to/appearing again etc... In fact, other channels could learn a lesson on their perfect communication... (cough)

lol - the typical STV way I just find it hard to believe STV don't announce where programmes are, as I say if they were able to move Celeb Square this week to later surely they could have moved this as well to later?, this is where I lose it with STV is if a programme is delayed by a week or whenever, yes if your lucky to have sky or virgin media you can easily find ITV and watch it but it does not help anyone on freeview thats for sure!

IIRC In the '80;s ITV had to change the name of "Wednesday at 8", (variety show hosted by Tom O'Connor, featuring "Name that Tune)
...because STV showed it on Thursdays at 9

If i have remembered correctly 'Wednesday at 8' been broadcast Thursday at 9 happened once because STV screened a one off Burns Night special on the Wednesday night.

Glad I was not mistaken - and you are probably right about the reason - I thought it was due to football - but then they tended not to show European Football games Live in those days.
