I aks this as i have just been to Morrisons, 16p for a tin of value kidney beans, 79p branded. In chilli they taste the same, and surely a kidney bean is a kidney bean.

Never buy value. Always either own brand or about 1/3 of the time 'a finest' range.

I buy smart price 9p noodles, I don't use the sachets I just use my own spices and the noodles are all the same, even the Sharwoods egg noodles taste exactly like the 9p ones to me once you've added everything to them.
I get smart price veg in cans, carrots, mushrooms, sweetcorn etc and I agree with kidney beans, they only go in something like a chilli and all taste the same when in them. I can't buy cheap beans, I can taste the salt in them and it's disgusting. |

Tinned Sweetcorn
Cooking bacon Ground black pepper, asalt (does that count as a food )Carrots and Onions. After they have been cooked up in dish, can't really taste any difference to the regular stuff. Organic, etc, excepted I have in the past, just to know what it's like and if there is any marked difference, I have bought a couple of'processed' foodstuffs like yogurt or pies. Won't a second time, bleugh! |

![]() I can't taste the difference in kidney beans really. As another poster has said - value Jaffa cakes - I find they are better than the 'proper' ones. |

I buy value kidney beans, butterbeans etc. Fruit juice (but I can only drink fruit juice diluted anyway). Someone else mentioned Porage - big bag for 69p and tastes no different to Scott's, which costs a £1 more!

I've bought Morrisons value pork chops a few times and they were fine. 4 chops for about £2.50.
I never ate them plain. Always spiced and marinated them. |

I regularly buy tinned kidney beans, sweetcorn and tomatoes as they all taste pretty much the same to me.
Tesco do a sweet and sour sauce in a tin, which is lovely and only about 30p (when I can find it). I also get their frozen stir fry vegetables as think they're fab - loads of different veg and handy for me as I can take out just the amount I need. Oh and their value packets of vegetable rice is really nice too. To be honest, i'll try most things from the cheaper ranges as if I like it, i'll continue to buy it and save money. If I find they're horrible, i'll stick to what I usually get which is 90% of the time, own brand. |

I've tried value tinned tomatoes before but don't like them. To watery and bitter. A little bit more spent on a brand is highly recommended on this occation.

Funny you should say that cos Tesco own (not value) beef gravy granules taste like coffee!!
The worst value Coffee I've had was the old Kwik Save No Frills stuff. I swear the best use for that would have been preserving wood. One of my neighbours even had a No Frills T Shirt: http://image.spreadshirt.net/image-s...t-t-shirt.png:) |

I buy the Tesco Value Mushrooms (the only fruit or veg I actually buy from a supermarket) cause they are dirt cheap and really quite good.
