What new albums this year have you found disappointing in 2011?

My nominees are:

Lady Gaga - Born This Way - Only two songs "Government Hooker" and "Schiebe" are listenable and will probably never be released. Too many similar and forgetable songs.
The Feeling - Together We're Made - Aside from two songs one being "Set My Heart On Fire" it's a very dull album and nothing stands out. Considering I paid £7.99 for a download copy, it was not worth a penny.
Nicole Scherzinger - "Killer Love" - Aside from the singles, it's a very poor album.

They are the ones off the top of my head.

Not every song on an album is or will be released as a single so that means that "Government Hooker" and "Schiebe" have been released, but on an album.

You probably should just give some of the other songs on the Gaga album a chance as, in my opinion, there are some superb tracks (Heavy Metal Lover, Bad Kids, Electric Chapel, You & I)

Why not just buy your music on CD (where you can rip the tracks) rather than download and, if you don't like an album, at least you can try and sell it.

I agree with Nicole's album. I much prefered the several demo's and songs that was were released from the shelved Her Name Is Nicole album.

Avril Lavigne - Great lead single. I actually liked the acoustic toned down vibe of the album but the songs did not match up

Nicole Scherzinger's album was my biggest disappointment. A lot of the songs sound the same and quite generic and boring in my opinion, Amenjena is a great track though.

Jessie J's was quite disappointing considering she is "the next big thing" etc, but it wasn't too bad.

Wonderland's was quite bad as well but I wasn't really expecting much so I wasn't too disappointed.

Born This Way and 4

I was never a big GaGa fan, but I thought she was going to impress me with this album and she didn't.

Now when it comes to 4, I loved DC and Beyonce's first 2 solo albums, so when I heard that she was returning to her urban roots, I was so excited, but it was rather a snoozefest.

Exactly! I've noticed that a couple of people on here have already said they don't like their choices numerous times. Why constantly go on about it?

I found Jessie J's pretty disappointing really. With all the hype, the brit etc, I was expecting a lot more than it is. Its not a bad album or anything, just not nearly as good as I was expecting.

I agree. It will be interesting to see what she comes up with next time around.

I agree with the OP about The Feeling's third album. Thought there were some flashes or brilliance, overall it was a very lacklustre album, even the Róisín Murphy and Sophie Ellis-Bextor hook-ups were rubbish.

From what i've heard of Beyonce's 4, that's a bit of a disappointment. But then her last album wasn't that great either. I like Beyonce but far too many of her songs are just totally self-indulgent.

Arctic Monkeys - Suck It and See.

It's a load of wank for the most part. Alex's voice seriously does my head in through the whole record. Full of dirges like Black Treacle, where he's trying to be some kind of cross between John Lennon and Noel Gallagher and sounding...rubbish instead!

J Lo - Love (Just didn't work for me)
Nicole Scherzinger - Killer Love (First two singles good, rest bad for me)
Jessie J - Who You Are (Singles and 2 or 3 others great, but the rest of the album just doesn't work together)

Totally agree with Jessie J's album. I liked her singles, and I like one or two of the others, but the rest is rather underwhelming, though not necessarily bad either.

J Lo - Love? - I only liked 5 or 6 of the songs tops, the majority of it was a borefest that lacked any eccentric fun or a kick that On the Floor or I'm Into You would suggest. After Papi, I think she's very limited for singles with this album.

Jessie J - I like her and she has a great voice but I find her album incredibly dull and disappointing. It was too full of soul, I wanted more of her experimental ballsy side that she demonstrated with Do It Like A Dude. With the right material I'm sure I'll warm to her a lot more.

Avril Lavigne - I was never 100% invested in her but her last album won me over and the lead single from this album was fun but that's where it stopped other than Smile. It was just a boring temper tanturm effort and generally depressing (If I want this I'll listen to Adele) and reminiscent of a bratty teen rather than an effort from a more mature person.

Nicole Scherzinger - I have always loved her during the PCD days and I think she's a great performer with a strong voice but she fell short with this album. Other than Poison, Wet, Killer Love, Say Yes, the rest of the album I find really boring and full of forgettable filler.

I'd have to agree with Gaga and "Born This Way". There are some really good, catchy pop songs on the album but there's no Bad Romance or Telephone. Branching out even further, everything concerning this era appears to have dissapointed. I know chart positions don't mean everything, but her singles haven't done particularly well here in the UK. Also, the videos have been pretty bad and I think several are getting tired of her and the whole image. She's definitely achieved some great debut week sales and Born This Way was on fire when it was first released on iTunes, but I was shocked the other day to see that the album's already out of the top 10 in the US. I really think she could do with taking a break. She's been in the public eye pretty much non-stop since "Just Dance", even when she was only touring. Then she can make a comeback to huge fanfare.

Beyonce's "4" is pretty average as well. I haven't really been that big on album's this year.

The Feeling can be a hit or a miss - I don't know if it's Dan's voice or the type of music they make that causes it but they can sound extremely dull on some songs and others are absolutely brilliant. Thought the Sophie EB duet was good but Roisin Murphy collaboration left quite angry. Just thought it was such a waste and made her sound like an obscure backing singer!?

Nicole Scherzinger - Killer Love (too many ballads and Gaga/Rihanna knock-offs)
Alexis Jordan - Alexis Jordan (boring)
Lady Gaga - Born This Way (tuneless racket)
Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Make A Scene (too dancey for me - I was hoping for a Trip The Light Fantastic part two)

AKA which albums don't you like.
I don't know what makes you say that, but thats definitely not how I made my list. For example I think Jessie J's album is absolute rubbish, but I expected it to be rubbish, so it didn't go on my list. Whereas I think Sophie EB's album is good, but not as good as I was hoping for, so it made my list. I suspect most other people are using the same criteria...

Britney - Femme Fatale. I only like about 3 songs on it. The rest I find bland, boring, formulaic and very repetitive, with some songs almost tuneless - but the worst part of it being the incessant overuse of autotuning, which sounds so dated already.

All the numerous songs around today with ridiculous amounts of autotuning "effects" on them - they're really not going to age well, imo. Like I said it sounds so tired and dated already to me.
