According to the Poundland website they're not new though. They're what they call "reconditioned" whatever that means. I'm fussy so only buy new CD's.

They have to say that because they have been off shelf for a while they may not work as much... They have all been refurbished. |

They haven't got any of those mentioned in ours. Mostly those cheapo cover version or live version ones.
Ours used to be Woolies too. |

I have seen Britney's Baby One More time album, Avril's debut album and Justin Timberlake's Justifield album and some others in my local poundland store, I was quite surprised to see them going for a £1 but some of the albums I already owned, only thing is that I never paid a £1 for them at the time, which is the price they are now, bargain.

i went into town to investigate this today. i have to say there was quite a lot there to be fair. mainly pop and mainstream rnb from the past fifteen years. they brand this little section of the store `replay pop`.
everything that was mentioned above was there. also i found a few robbie williams cds. other stand outs were kelly rowland, mary j blige, oasis and even beyonce first solo cd. you could easily pick up most of the sugarbabes back catalogue from that store alone. they are well packaged and are far more likely to be overstocks from a former retail than second hand. the sheer volume of stock could also support that theory. poundland`s cd section, seems to be driving down the prices of second hand cds. in second hand shops like cash generators too. they were second hand. however, there were some pretty good bargains to had like destiny`s child's #1`s and alicia keys last album for 99p! |

These are refurbished CDs but surprisingly enough are factory sealed and contain all the original hype stickers on the front of the cases. A hype sticker will tell you some songs that are on the CD and maybe have a catalogue number on them, after a while they stop shipping albums out with these on them so it is strange seeing all these Britney albums and even the Avril Lavigne album which is 9 years old all in a new condition just like the day they came out. Even looking at the cases they look brand new so i don't know how they 'refurbished' them unless they are just old stock from somewhere and they are selling them off cheap.

My local Poundlands are always classical albums or more aimed at a older generation market. I am kinda jealous at your poundland.
