Hi,

We have had really bad showers here in Sussex this afternoon and since then we have lost all vertical channels on two Humax Hdrs and one sky box.

Any ideas. Does this mean a call out for our Aerial engineer.

Thanks in advance

Could your dish have been knocked out of alignment? Does it look as if its pointing slightly differently?

Have you tried removing the sat cable, grounding it against the floor then plugging it back in?

Tried power/hard resetting your boxes forcing them to scan again?

sounds like it could be lnb, but if you give us some sort of a list of channels you have lost and channels you are still getting, please also include in your list all the BBC regions, Sky News, S4C, BBC News, the more channels you list the better.
P.S. wait until it stops raining, I'm sure in this weather lots have lost signals

It has stopped raining hours ago. This problem is happening on two Foxsats and one SKY box all on the same Satellite dish. Another two boxes on another dish work ok.

I have been looking and seem to have all Horizontal channels.

Cannot get BBC one HD, BBC One Meridian area. Can get BBC Northeast. Cannot get ITV1 or ITV1 HD. Can get channel 5 & 4 but not 4HD. can get BBC News.

Yes have done a factory reset and rescan. But to no avail.

If you have a compass, or even iphone/android phone with a compass app, you can check your alignment.

A way to tell if it is the alignment or LNB as suggested, is to swap the LNB off the good dish. If it works, it's probably a bad LNB, if it doesnt, then it may be the alignment.

We once had a strong hailstorm and gusty conditions that knocked our dish out of alignment.

Thanks, will get out our local aerial man as I do not want to get up on the roof to check.

It could be a number of reasons. A lnb is switched between horizontal and vertical polarisation by the DC voltage output by the tuner.

http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/lnb.htm

On the other hand it could be the skew setting of the lnb (the twist in the lnb bracket) which enables the lnb to seperate horizontal from vertical. In this case as it worked before,
assuming the dish has not moved, the controlling tuner is not outputing the right vottage or the lnb is faulty. If this was a lottery my guess would be the latter .

If you gave us a more complete channel list of what you are getting and not getting (needs to be a little more specific with the BBC + ITV regions too, which meridian area e.t.c, there are many regions and on different frquencies) we could tell you straight away if it's an alignment issue, but yes it is most likely the LNB needs changing

Just a thank you all for your input. A new LNB was required there was water in the old one which was also very brittle and breaking up.

All ok now.
