Ciara recently has not done well.
Her latest LP 'Basic Instinct' was a major flop.
Her singles charted very poorly.

But now we seem to be having a new era of her.
In February she released a statement asking her label to free her: http://rapfix.mtv.com/2011/02/15/cia...ped-from-jive/

She was presumably released as she was dropped from their website and now she is reportedly signed a new deal Epic Records under L.A. Reid: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/ne...ord-label.html this will be a major new step for her, and could restart her career.

Now she currently headlining on tour with Taio Cruz.

She is doing well for herself, a new record deal, with an amazing manager, a new US tour, and much more?

Her is her on her latest tour: I think she is a good performer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lo7RF...layer_embedded

what does everyone else think?

She is so underrated, but to be honest, she never really had a chance of getting right to the top...she is an average singer, and her music, although very good, could have been sung by 4 other US RnB singers....

She got lucky as she came out just after Aaliyah passed, so people were looking for a replacement, plus her collab with Missy drew instant comparisons, and she did well for a while...I think she was screwed over by her manager/record label quite a bit, hence the poor album sales and bad promotion...

She could be decent again with the right promotion and singles...the only think that saves her is her phenomenal dance skill...she is one of if not the best dancers in the industry at the moment...

She's one of my favourite artists and I think she's very underrated. It's a shame how her label have treated her recently. I've loved all four of her albums and think 'Fantasy Ride' and 'Basic Instinct' should've done better than they did. I hope signing with Epic Records will put her back on top once again.

I LOVE CIARA!She is indeed getting ready to bounce back.It wasn't her fault that she's been underperforming for a while.Jive was ignoring her when they started geering up for Brit's comeback and during her last era they even went as far as boycotting her. After 'Ride' she gained momentum, but then they prohibited radios to play 'Gimme Dat' and she had to fund the video herself(100k).Now that she may get a label that understands her and cares about her, she will come back bigger and better

Btw, I also think that 'Fantasy Ride' didn't deserve to underperform.I own all her albums and I consider this one her best piece of work TO DATE.I think her 5th album is going to blow the other 4 out of the water, though.

It's amazing how such a talent can go too waste, yeah I would blame her last label for screwing her over.

I hope she has success with this one.

Since we're talking about Ciara's return, it's worth mentioning that she kicked off her first headlining tour (along with Taio Cruz)yesterday night in Miami

(1st video, from the 4 minute mark to the 6 minute mark approximately is a MUST-SEE IMO)

Fantasy Ride is brilliant. So many great songs like Keep Dancing On Me, High Price, Tell Me What Your Name Is, I Don't Remember, Work.....basically the whole album. It feels like a waste that it didn't do well. I think Tell Me What Your Name Is could've been a hit.

I think there were many songs on the album with hit potential, but the label had abandoned her for some reason 'Go Girl' had a (flawless) video and was supposed to be the lead single, but suddenly it was shelved and they released...a slow jam that was not single worthy at all with a half hearted video and no promo

The thing is that people call FR a flop, but it gave her international appeal and it sold 300K in the US and much more ww relying on nothing but 2 proper singles and hardly any promotion (stateside only)

I know it's such a shame. I wish they had handled that era properly.

Same with basic instinct. Turn It Up could've done well in Europe as it has that dance sound to it but they didn't even bother. I think they were suppose to but it was scrapped. Ride done well and was an Urban hit but released the album months later when hype died down .

What she does best is PERFORMING, so she should stick to performing. She's one of the VERY few really gifted performers that has to offer a lot on stage and had you watched the videos from her tour that I posted, you'd know that she's a competent and trained vocalist

Her single choices in her last two albums were very poor IMO.
Fantasy Ride should have been/order of singles:
Go Girl
Work
Love Sex Magic
Tell Me What Your Name Is

Basic Instinct:
Turn It Up (though not my fave song, a collab with Usher would have easily brought her back on the scene).
Gimme Dat
Heavy Rotation
Ride

Gimme Dat and Heavy Rotation and Basic Instinct (U Got Me) are my faves from the latest album. She was horribly mishandled by her previous label, here's hoping the new label works more in her favour.

As we're talking about single choices, I'll start off by saying that 'Can't Leave Them Alone' should have never been released and they should have released 'That's Right' instead to end 'The Evolution' era

When it comes to 'Fantasy Ride', 'Work' and 'Go Girl' are just hood club anthems and that's why they didn't go anywhere, even with killer videos. Not single material.'Turntables', 'Love Sex Magic', 'Like A Surgeon' should have been the main releases, but then again none of them is a good LEAD single. And also, with 'Like A Boy' and 'Promise' she showed that she can get a hit with no feature, so why was Fantasy Ride full of featured acts???Wrong.

As far as 'Basic Instinct' is concerned, 'Ride' should have been a buzz single with a proper video to stop the backlash she was getting from some urban fans for 'not keeping it real' and then 'Turn It Up'.Also, 'Gimme Dat', 'Heavy Rotation', 'Wants For Dinner' and 'You Can Get It' deserved a release.

They didn't lose them.JIVE/RCA split and Jive doesn't exist anymore, so the artists were transferred to either Epic Records with L.A. Reid or RCA, the other half of the label that split

Surprised to see an article on her from them. She looks great.

I can't wait till we start hearing some information about her working on new music. I'm guessing it'll be a while though.

Soundz, the guy that produced 'Gimme Dat' said in an interview last year that Ciara was planning to start working again in the summer of 2011, but that was before she left Jive, so it's not 100% official.I don't think it's going to take her too long, anyway, though, especially since she has L.A. Reid 'mentoring' her again

Thanks for the info.

So it she does start this summer I'm guessing we'll be hearing stuff early next year maybe.

I love Gimme Dat, the video for it was great. Her performance of it on the George Lopez show was brilliant.

I know the performance was really good! She gave it her all! Wish it was on somewhere bigger!

I think we will see a good future for Cici
