Sorry, but isn't a curved nail file totally useless?

The fact that it's curved means you can't get that sawing action going, you have to do a weird circular action. I just don't see how you can get any force behind it, in a smooth, efficient way.

Is that why the business has been in decline?

Anyone actually used one of these things and liked it?

You aren't supposed to use a sawing action.
It's very good.

I believe using a sawing action will weaken nails. I presume the curved idea was to ensure it was used to file the nails one way.

I'm a bloke ok I just can't imagine the action you would have to do to file your nailes with a curved file, it's seems really awkward and counter-intuitive

How does it work then? I wish there is a video demonstration of using a Stylefile.

Well I think it's amazing! it saves having misshapen nails, it's to make your nails equal half moons.

How about we check out the website first, eh?

Particuarly the tips, reason behind it's creation and the customer reviews.

My boyfriend asked me last night how does the bloody thing work. Sigh.

When something is so unexciting (just like this curved nail file), I feel unexcited to explain about it.

Don’t think of it as a nail file, more a sander.

That could be Tom’s next product, a “manly” nail file. Maybe make a tiny electric belt sander to make filing your nails look all macho. The occasional spurt of blood as you miss the nail will just add to the effect.

I could do with that

Especially if it can cure mouldy toe nails at the same time

Even the website and the (terrible) computer simulation don't properly explain it.

I need to see a youtube of someone actually using it because I honestly don't get how you maintain contact between the nail and the file, and keep a smooth action going.

it's like if you have to file a thin piece of wood, and you wanted to file it into a 'nail shape'.

A curved file would actually be a total nightmare to use. The constantly changing angle would mean having to always readjust as you file. Seems wrong to me.

A curved file does NOT make it easy to file a curved shape, so I'm baffled.

Who's now had tom's curved nail file? what do you think of it?

I got one myself, its great file if you need to get rounded or oval nails, but me personally and some of my friends would prefer to get my nails square nails with the rounded edges (that's the trend really) instead of the round/oval shapes which according to my opinion is quite outdated with the older generation? my friend's got a beauty salon and said alot of her clients always request to get rounded square nails. Tom's file deosn't give that result. Would be great don't you think to have something that you can file to get perfect square nails especially on both hands?

What do you think?

Just goes to show the Apprentice doesn't practice what is preaches. If you look at the Stylfile packaging...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/i...32031&s=beauty

it seems to have a major flaw. It's got a photo of Tom Pellereau stuck on it. How many products for WOMEN have photos of MEN on the packaging?

None, I suspect.

Seems contrary to what goes on in the boardroom when Sugar berates the candidates for coming up with the wrong sort of packaging or marketing for the product.

Having said that, I suppose Mr Pellereau and Sugar hope the photo will make women go "hey, that's that guy from The Apprentice, I must buy a bendy nail file."But in terms of packaging to the right market - WOMEN - it seems a wee bit daft to stick his face on the packaging.

I guess the sales - be they big or small - will prove it the right or wrong decision.

Tom's new product - the Stylfile Emergency Nail File - is released on April 1st, April Fools Day. LOL

For when you break your nail trying to open the packet of Emergency Biscuits?

I've used both straight and curved now and my straight file does the job as well as the curved one. It's not difficult to file with a straight one because the technique of a getting a curve with a straight file isn't a complicated technique so, for me, whichever one is in touching distance to pick up first gets the job.
