Thanks for that. Can't say strechovision sounds very appealing.

That might be the fault of the MHEG engine; Most stretch out to the entire screen. With usual text and pictures this is OK but with video it would be a bit annoying. The TV's aspect ratio button should be able to force it back to 4:3.

The Technika STBHDIS2010 with the beta firmware does not support MHEG-IC extensions (according to the hidden message on Ch112)

many times that I have tuned in ...the Shots are in a Cinemascope Format AND Glossy smoothness of Hollywood..
At other times any circles on buildings or vans are seen to be circular with the output at 16.9.. perhaps it's my Panny TV that makes it a first class picture..AND the Aspect Ratio does not work at all for anything coming in from the Internet..like on YouTube ..It's all preordained seemingly

I'm thinking about getting the TXL42E30B but I've heard there is bleeding in the bottom LEDs, is that true for you? Would you recommend this tv?

Thanks.

My preferences in a long life have always been to be cautious....excepting when/where Blue Eyes were involved..
We look at and drive around a dozen cars every four years or so before we get another..
Our current one after such tests is a Picasso C4..Not everyones choice of a set of Wheels but we have just renewed the Guarantee with Citroen for another 2 years..Like all to date it is the most suitable car for us that money could buy.
Hence you should perhaps view my comments on the Panny with my background in mind.
Our Panny replaced an Hitachi Plasma which cost nearly £3000 only 8 years ago..needless to say both sets were purchased at Lewis's.the Panny was £900 in April,,
My wife and I had ruled out the complications of 3D which made the choice easier.
With other TVs and the Lounge to be repapered I went the rounds of the shops when they are empty during the week..It is 50 years since i was at Uni and the sales people got short shift with any Lies to this doddery OAP in Shorts.
My wife insists fo her Soaps on the SD Sky box..FreeStat of course.. being available in every room and the Panny facilitates that when she Presses SKy and then Tv..she is then in control and the Scart picture on the Panny is without blemish..She knows not about the 'Hotel Mode'!
I read about the 'Bleeding' before i bought and have seen no evidence of such in any shop and certainly not on the Panny we have.
As it happens one of my major Hobbies is Astronomy and I have a Roof Observatory feeding down in CAT6 to HDDs and then to the Panny..so i often at night have a Black screen and stars and recently Meteors crossing the Screen..
For excellence ih HD it is fed By Humax Sat and we have a Panny home cinema and the sound since the update is first class...equally on Freeview it looks briliant in HD. even with CP at half Power..THE Utube PORTAL plus Twitter etc always work first time and better than on the PCs..
THe 4 HDMIs go to v1.4 and the Component in is super for games..My 320 G USB records at the push of a button ..
Am i glad that I bought the Panny? Well If it fell off the wall tomorrow I would simply ring Lewis's and tell them to send another..
Hope this helps
Merry Xmas

Has CCTV actually started broadcasting yet? I'm getting a different screen to what I used to get but I'm now told that my LG TV doesn't currently support the service.

Yes. You get the multiscreen option, described in the first few posts at the top of this page.

Anybody succeeded in getting these to start up using a Humax HD Fox T2. Mine connects to the front page and downloads the HTML but I get no video. The Sports Tonight thing just displays "attempting to start video" and the CCTV options scroll through but again no video or audio,.

I use Virginmedia broadband and wonder if they are blocking streaming video although BBC iPlayer and Youtube via the Portal works fine.

Using "Post Office Broadband", I have a Humax HD FOX T2 and a TVonics DTR-HD500.
The Humax does exactly the same as yours (attempting to start video), but it never starts.
The TVonics box works fine on 111 & 112.

Quite often I have to go to the channel twice for the video playback to begin on both 111 and 112. I have a new Sony NX723 TV and HDT500 PVR box.

Panasonic Freeview HD TVs also not capable of receiving these channels.

So in addition in dropping support for Freesat (ITV player, box office 365) they've also dropped support for Freeview.

Vision appears to have launched at last. Can somebody with a compatible box check? http://www.visiontvnetwork.co.uk

I'm with Virgin Media and can confirm that on a Humax HD and HDR Fox T2 none of the IPTV services stream on these boxes. I have limited success with a Panasonic G20 series but we have just had a S30 series (for downstairs) and can confirm all the IPTV services (well those that have launched) work perfectly so Virgin are not blocking anything.

I have the same problem with my Sony, but it does work after I press the down and then up channel rocker switch.

I have a KDL-32CX523 which is on Vision TV Network's supported TV page on their site.
Everything loads up fine on both 110 and 111 (CCTV), I can navigate around the menus but I can't can't get any of the channels to go full screen. It says press OK to go fullscreen but when I press the button in the middle of the arrows (D-Pad) which I assume is my OK button but nothing happens. Any Ideas?

I have the TVonics DTR-HD500 box. By selecting channel 110 and then scrolling left or right I'm able to see TeleFrance (France 24 News, France 2, France 5), Hellenic TV (Greek) free-to-air, at the moment. Polska Plus and TeleTurk show a screen inviting me to subscribe at visiontvnetwork.co.uk

Full screen is possible by pressing OK. Picture quality is up to at least BBC SD standards on the French TV.

Chris.

Edit. Now that I've worked out how to see all the services on channel 110 (there are loads of services), a lot of them are free for the month of February. France 24 News is a free-to-air channel, so the visiontvnetwork web page tells me.

I have the i-can Easy HD box and have been able to access the 3 Chinese channels on 111 for several weeks.
However on 110 I get the message that subscription has expired, also press green to login. On pressing green there is a login screen, also to get details go to visiontvnetwork.co.uk

After going to ch 110, ch 111 no longer works until I do a power cycle.

I have no intention to subscribe to get foreign channels that I can already get FTA on satellite.
