I hope this news provokes a bit of discussion. This is Dan's thread, and although we had to go off topic to survive, we should be on topic at times like these.

This is a watershed!”

More than one watershed currently . WWRY has ended its tour and Jenny may be looking for her second job - and Lauren is maternity cover for Scaramouche - which may limit her time there too. Amongst incoming West End shows rumoured/know are Jesus Christ Superstar, The Addams Family, Top Hat coming off tour, Singing In the Rain, Bridget Jones, House of Mormon and Viva Forever (Spice Girls) Kiss Me Kate is coming to Chichester and may move into London too. There's also Starlight Express touring, plus all the smaller theatres and tours, and every big show has a cast change sometime in 2012. Some of the new shows are for 2012, some will be early 2013, JCS must be some time off. The big 2012/3 tours- Oliver and Phantom - are cast and I doubt she can sing Christine anyway.

Think Dan is better off away from the clutches of ALW and RUG. Now she has the freedom to do whatever she wants, perhaps an album or gigs.
Can't wait to see what happens next.

Still miffed that there hasn't been an official cast change announcement yet, especially as it's only 3 weeks away. WTF are they playing at? #ultimatefail

Can't even see anything on the show's site - last news was December - thats going to leave even more people surprised when they turn up with their tickets. Sophie hasn't mentioned anything on twitter....

These are exciting times. Dan was a mambotastic Dot, but she is capable of so much more.

Danielle leaving is a good choice. If you have to go why not now. She will have to start at the back again, but i'm sure she'll be able to get somethings soon. I expect small things at first. But i would also have liked to see if her name can bring in the audience now that Crawford is leaving. Because when it comes to drawing people to the show, i think her name around the 4th thing that pulled people in. But i don't really care that that isn't happening, i like that we're in undiscovered waters now. Its exciting

And i honestly didn't think i would ever see this many posts after not checking for a day. Its going good.

Agreed. She can expand her career now in any way she likes, and (hopefully) without the Lord watching her every move.
I'd love an album with her own songs, that'd be epic.

It is pretty poor tbh. I've not seen many shows in the West End (mostly Oz), or seen many cast changes, but I would've thought you'd get the new cast sorted a couple of months in advance at the least.

Why is it a good thing that she's going far away from ALW? He has such a big reputation and having his seal of approval could help with some auditions. And i doubt that he will tell her which rolls she can and cannot except.

And he and Cameron control half the big shows around..... Its always been a question what help he gives after the TV shows. Some people seem to stay with his shows, others seem to get jobs from others, and never mention him, and some seem to get all their work from others but, in interviews, say they keep in touch with him, some don't get big roles at all after their first one or two.

The Lloyd Webber shows seem to work a bit more more on the principle that people go for his music, or change to meet his business need than looking after fans of the show or stars or even pushing them as attractions . Other shows presumably know that more fans will turn up to a cast change to say goodbye and more will turn up after to see the new team, so they don't mind if people release cast change dates, or when they are going, in good time. WWRY has a big day and Brian May may turn up, Wicked cast changes have people camping out overnight, and are very big , Legally Blonde has the scope to do it and tends to put on a massive muck up matinee where the script changes as required around a theme to do with who is going. If you look around, you can already know that Legally Blonde has a big cast change on April 7 and Wicked has its next big day on Oct 27 if Rachel goes then . The Webber shows changes just seem to happen with less warning or predictability. Love Never Dies closed a few weeks before its cast change day - with people still under contract and leaving some customers to rearrange air flights and hotels to see Ramin go, and Phantom just took out John Owen Jones for the tour at short notice leaving lots of people holding tickets for his original last day.

Usually the new cast/leaving cast is announced at least a few months in advanced so the fans have time to book their tickets to see their fav performer for the last time.

Cast changes is a big thing in some shows (as thenetworkbabe has mentioned a few posts above) all the big fans come out to show their appreciation for the leaving cast members.

I've been to the muck-up matinee on Legally Blonde's cast change day 3 times because it's fun and different to the normal show. It's becoming a tradition for me now.

Dan is Dot. But Dan will not be Dot for too much longer. Maybe Sophie will be Dot, and will gain a higher profile.

When Danielle stops it will be the end of the 'Dan is Dot' era. Wonder what will come after Dan is... then.
