Which one did you have that was so bad?
I used to loooove Findus crispy pancakes when I was a kid but I tried them recently and they're nothing special so either my taste has changed or they have. Or maybe my Mum used to deep fry them or something, omg her chips were great. |

I just hated the bread crumbs and the texture of whatever they were made from on the outside. Never had them since I was a child.

Did it have horrible bits of gristle in the mince like some Tesco ready meals do? |

Why would they want crap like crispy pancakes in France when their day to day food cooked at home is splendid, as is most of Europe unlike the ready meals and packet crap that people eat here

![]() Infact the UK could be seen to be in a better position as we're now getting more into provenance and home cooking again. |

Apparenly not the case according to the documentary "France on a Plate". France is falling in line with the UK and US and is infultrated with fast food chains and losing the appeal of homecooked meals.
Infact the UK could be seen to be in a better position as we're now getting more into provenance and home cooking again. One thing I have noticed around Europe is that supermarkets generally carry far more ingredients and fresh produce and far less ready meals, in fact in some countries I have seen zero ready meals. Another thing is real baked bread is the norm not terrible sliced bread like over here, although again our supermarkets are reversing this trend with in store bakeries, in fact one very fundamental thing around Europe is that you get great bread and great coffee not warburtons and nescafe. |

That takes me back to my much younger days. Coming in from the pub as pissed as a fart and having deep fried minced beef crispy pancakes and chips. Even the thought of that now makes my stomach turn.
![]() Cos I used to loooove them sooooo much!!!!

I tried their ready meals a few months back, very bad. Tasteless and horribly cheap.

![]() That shut them up for a bit. Their superiority complex is often worrying when most of what they cook is nothing special. |

Yeah you're right especially in big cities it is changing especially with the likes of McD's getting popular, but outside of big cities not so much.

According to their website they're the UK's biggest buyer of Fish.
For what purpose i have no idea as I don't think I've ever seen a Findus product containing Fish. |

Italy has a lot of ready meals due to people being too busy with work to cook these days. They seem to no longer bother to make fresh pasta and when I was in Sorrento last May there were loads of pasta ready meals. France has a lot tinned, jarred and oven ready food. Le Poulet Basquaise looks revolting. Gratin Dauphinois comes in a tin these days and so does Potée a l'Auvergnate. |

I still like the taste of crispy pancakes even now! I'm a tad fed up at elitists who say that just because it (admittedly) is processed crap that we're not allowed to enjoy it anymore.
![]() Yes, whole foods are good. Yes, good quality food is grand, but dammit sometimes you just want a doughnut. Or a crispy pancake. Or four. But be really flipping careful if you cook the cheese ones in a George Foreman grill or you'll have cheese everywhere.
