Frosted sausages
Porcupine

I need your help fellow foodies.

I have a pack of Tesco Finest bangers in the freezer. I wanted to have them for dinner tonight, and as i removed them from the freezer i noticed that the packaging has been damaged (it has like a thin clingfilm over them).

The sausages have probably been in the freezer about 3-4 months. I don't know when the damage happened, but the sausages directly under the broken area look a little discoloured.

I am defrosting them at the moment for tea, but i dont know whether to eat them or not. Will they be rock hard, or will they taste a little odd seeing as the air / frost has got to them ?

If they look discoloured, it's probably just from direct contact with the frost/ice.

I don't know how big your pack is, but if you can spare those discoloured ones, then throw them away and add something else to your meal to make up the numbers, if you still have some sausages left.

If you have the chance then just cut off the gnarly bits that have been hit by freezer burn.

Were they frozen sausages to start with or fresh you froze? If so isn't 3 months the limit to keep something fresh that's been frozen

I'm never that cautious once something is that frozen, and I've never had any problems eating meet up to 6 months after it's been frozen.

Thanks for all your replies, and they were fresh sausages that had been frozen.

I did what a few suggested and cut off the slightly discoloured bits and cooked the rest. They were lovely with a jacket potato and baked beans
