I like Mel, she is a really good presenter. I can tolerate Gino in small doses so not sure if I will stay with it, he seems to be too over the top already.
It annoys the hell out of me that all shows want us to ring up for competitions or any other reason.
This show is appears, wants us to ring in to tell Gino what we want him to cook at the end of the show!
They must be raking the money in if people are daft enough to ring in that is.

You don't have to ring in, you can vote online.

That's exactly what it is. The cooking segments on SFTW made into one show.

What is ITV's obsession with cookery? It's on every talk show they have along with over priced competions.

How can Gino be a co-presenter (presenter nevertheless) when he cannot speak English really, he has very limited vocabulary with grammar, verbs, adj, etc all over the place.

Unless his main domain will be around the kitchen then I suppose he'll be alright. But surely they can't stick him in the actual host/guest interview??

Seriously tv shows these days are just shit, just as well I'm at work during the day.

Jeez he really overdoes the Italian accent, how long has he been living in the UK for?! If another Italian came onto the show Gino would not be playing it up as much

Have they basically blended This Morning's cookery thing with Today with Des and Mel?

Yeh I also think he plays up his accent to create a "character". I enjoyed the show, but wasnt sure of the asian guy that came and did the volcano and dropped his tools every where. They both seemed to genuinely enjoy themselves and had decent chemistry and if they keep the ideas fresh I think the show will succeed.

I didnt like how they were already with the 0900 numbers to get some revenue going.

Well, I quite enjoyed it! A bit of fun at lunchtime. Gino and Mel seemed to gel as presenters, and half the fun is Gino struggling with certain words - that was his forte on This Morning!
I say give it a chance! Jane MacDonald is on tomorrow! She should be fun!

Jane McDonald ...God help us...Let's see how long it takes for her to 1) Mention her mother 2) Talk about her other half (he WAS in The Searchers..Don't you know?) 3) Bore us with her talking about being from Yorkshire.......Oh.and I can't wait for the usual audience reactions of cackling laughter, whooping and screaming like banshees! Well done ITV...another useless piece of chewing gum TV. And as for that Gino....being an Italian in the UK (been here for 8 years) nobody talks like you do. It's laughable! I'd love to hear him talk English when the cameras are off!!

Had a look yesterday direr than dire, rather have Loose Women and that's dire. Mind can't stand Gino, used to think he was OK but now think he's awful.

"...Good God. can ITV stoop any lower? ..."
One word. No.
Although, It's ITV 1.
I'm surprised they haven't called it " Gino and Mel do lunch then watch Coronation Street"

I was enjoying this yesterday but again an ITV lunchtime show feels the need to be smutty to get a laugh!

I'm no prude but it doesn't suit the style of show to have Jane McDonald going on about Gino's nuts when all he's asked her to do is stir the crushed walnut into the mix.
Des and Mel was the same and Loose Women is awful for this. Is there really a huge audience wanting to laugh at that?

Not yet watched this show, but is it anything like the old Mel and Sue channel 4 programme from the 90s?

I used to love that show when I was home with the kids - remember how they used to make the French chef say "baby onnnions"?

The usual ITV suspects are here:

Jane McDonald, Peter Andre, and it's only been on a few days.

Urgh!

Same old ITV, going down the pan.

Bloody Peter Andre tries to go one better with the pastry "sheet" joke again. Oh no, he can't let it lie when gino says it he has to lower the tone by saying "how lOng u had the shits for?". I'm surprise mel didn't apologise for the blatant swearing she did look uncomfortable after he said it. Idiot.

Except that Peter couldn't be in a horror film, because he is so wooden.

Unless he played the stake, which would then be plunged through Claire Powell's heart.

Gino and Peter were playing at naughty boys today as they are mates. Mel managed to control them to a certain extent, even when they were on about "Shits of pasta" and Peter asked him how long he's had "the shits for". All harmless fun!
I think it's a nice bit of happy entertainment.....between all this sheety news about riots and stuff!
