LCD 37" TV gone dark and has a shadow can i fix this myself?

Hi
Many apologies in advance as i'm sure similar issues have been raised but I can't appear to find anything thats directly relevant to my problem.
I have a Wharfedale LCD37F1080P TV, that i bought from new 3 1/2 years ago, which suddenly went dark about 2 months ago. After turning the TV on it does lighten a little bit, after around 30 minutes. I've tried all settings and different inputs such as DVD player but still no joy, currently have settings as high as I can to increase brightness levels which makes it just watchable. I'm hoping that theres only one issue because I also have shadows that are particularly evident on lighter scenes (these shadows form part of what was a previous scene - is this called screenburn?) In addition theres a 3mm white line across the top of the screen but not when showing the default bluescreen.

I'm hoping this may be an inverter issue but if its the screen then i guess i'll have to dump the TV.

Any help would be great.
cheers Ian

its the inverter board by the sound of it.

I think unless you have a warranty (extremely likely ) You should replace the TV.

you can get some good deals on 32'' TV's right now.
