Many a time have I stumbled into that place after a few ales and requested something to stop the hunger pains...we do have other better takeaways but this one is open v late when the rest of them are closed.. sometimes dirty chicken is required

Any guess what the meat in question is?

I'd guess it's probably diner kebab meat

As soon as I saw the menu I would have guessed that it was doner meat. Of which I am talking about those strips of meat that are taken from the big reformed meat blocks on a spit.

It's a bit strange that they won't tell you.

Unless you know exactly what meat it is I'd give it a wide berth and opt for something else on the menu. Saying that the 1/2 Pound Burger with Egg and Pineapple sounds utterly rank. Who in the name of God thought that was a winning combination?

I wouldn't order anything in a restaurant that had an item called "Meat and Chips" on its menu. Under any circumstances...

If it was possible to test the DNA of cooked meat, perhaps the results could be used to check on any missing local gangsters.

Yep it's doner meat where I am (I am sure they will do either lamb doner or chicken doner if asked but it is lamb as standard!!)

This.

I ate some pies in Australia in the late 90s. I was told by the locals if the meat is named i.e. steak pie, chicken and mushroom pie, it's good. If you see something called a 'meat pie', it's best to give it a wide berth.

I wouldn't eat anything from a place that refuses to tell me what i'm eating. Something not right there.

Seeing as they have donner kebab and chicken donner I guess the meat and chips would be donner meat as you can also get chicken meat and chips ( which I have to say sounds rank). Under extras they also have "Spuds"??????

I am guessing donar meat and chips.

Why won't they tell you, are you too drunk to ask properly ?

I'd agree that it's doner meat (Lamb) and Chips, though why they don't tell you is a mystery.

The menu looks bland and boring to me, I always try and find something new or different when I eat out

Same here. They were downright rude to you by not answering. Keep your money and go elsewhere. I'm guessing by looking at the menu, it's most probably all the dregs of meat from the other kebabs?

So you wouldn't order meatloaf either then?

Well yes, because I know meatloaf is a recognised recipe made with minced beef. Just "Meat & Chips" could be anything, and if they are not even going to tell you what that "meat" is it's definitely not a place I want to give my custom to.

I love meat and chips from the local kebab place, always get a mixed one, which is lamb and chicken

The problem is they always pile it high, so even though I only ever get a small one, feel really full and a bit sick after it.

I started getting the "kids" portions from my local takeaways. It's more than enough even for me.
