Which is your favourite regular character / strip ?
I love Tinribs.
The level of violence meted out to poor Mr Snodworthy is just horrific. but very funny !

In no particular order :-
The Bacons / Biffa Bacon (surreal, visceral, hysterical)
Eight Ace (especially the occasional ones with picture dialogue instead of words & the Patel's Nano, Pico, etc. Mart joke)
Ooh Lordy! It's The Fat Slags (getting my Viz anorak on there)
Drunken Bakers (compelling in a bizzare way)
Raffles, The Gentleman Thug (I love the long-winded swearing "I'ts a vaginal lodestone")

The Top Tops and the letters were the best, but for pure comedy gold, you couldn't beat Finbarr Sounders in my opinion!

Haven't read it for years, and am always amazed whenever I notice that it is still going. But my favourites were always:
Sid the Sexist
The Fat Slags
Buster Gonad and his unfeasibly large Testicles
Finbarr Saunders and his Double Entendres
Billy The Fish

In fact, now you've reminded me, I'm going to buy a copy tomorrow.

Fru T Bun - some of the artwork is just superb
The Drunken Bakers - bleak but compelling
Terry ****witt - I love it when they get really surreal
Jack Black - the little facist
Spoilt Bastard - again, bleak at times, but funny with it
Letterbocks - a;ways at least two damned good laughs on there.

And loads more.

Haven't seen it in years but always found the pathetic sharks amusing.

Buster Gonads, Biffa Bacon ("Did you call wor mutta a hooare!"), black bag - the faithful border bin liner, Billy the Fish and Finbar Saunders (fnarr fnarr) were always favourites.

I like a lot of the oldies....
Rude Kid
Pathetic Sharks
S.W.A.N.T.
Skinheed
The Brown Bottle
Professor Piehead
Johnny Fartpants

Many years ago I was reading an early edition of Viz while in a 'merry' state in a pub - and happened across a short strip called 'Pierre, le petit lapin Francais'
A French rabbit, finds a nuclear bomb, then it explodes.
For some reason (alcohol) the punchline 'Le Boume' struck me as the funniest thing I'd ever seen - to the point I was literally crying and rolling about with sore ribs.

Gilbert Ratchet for me. I just love the surrealism of the situations and events, and how they take place within a jovially-realised 'normality' which its characters never question, and just level of invention in general including minute details that can sometimes take a second read to spot. I love the wordplay punchlines too, and how they're occasionally self-referential (like one time when an unimpressed Gilbert was seen signing a 'resignation from cartoon' in the final frame).

I do think the edge has unfortunately long gone out out some of the older 'key' strips such as Fat Slags and Sid The Sexist, although they are still a million miles better than 'Drunken Bakers' and all those strips done by that particular animator, which just seem completely pointless and interminable.
