Is there any chance that ITV 3D would be made FTA. It is a pity that there are no FTA 3D transmissions at 28.2E.

Freesat should have a 3D channel!

Thanks. Makes sense. Missed it or I would have recorded some of it.

Wonder if they'll up the resolution to 1920x1080i again for this (hopefully then leaving it at that!)

I would have thought they'd have too, else it'll only be 720x1080.

And yes, I think they should leave it at 1920x1080 afterwards.

That is of course the 17th.

Lot of info here. As with Sky Sports it won't be a simulcast but the 3d version will use cameras in different positions with a different director.

That will be some filming task - Live, two complete sets of cameras, two directors each not trying to get in each others shots.

Good luck to them!

Thanks I have had to do some advanced PVR programming. I just hope that I have got it right.

So finally everything clear on 1N, but what channels next and when?

Not quite yet! There's still one encrypted C5 region (testing), the one labelled 7701. I expect this will go FTA by next week before Sky's Christmas lockdown.

I think people expecting the likes of Dave, 4Music, and other Freeview channels to suddenly go FTA are gonna be disappointed, at least in the short term. We may see some HD from Channel 4 next year, and possibly 5HD sometime but there's not suddenly going to be a hundred new FTA channels.

I would love to be proved wrong! And yes I'm a Sky customer but there's room for both platforms to exist.

There's no rush for 7701 to go FTA as it's a clone of the current C5 Region used by Freesat that is on the BBC TP. Is there any news of when the 4 Currently FTA C5 Regions on 1N will be goining the Freesat EPG?

Probably when 7701 becomes active on there, I imagine it will all happen at once. Not that it matters too much, it's only the adverts that are different

Does anyone know when all the ITV 1+1 Regions will be going FTA as my correct ITV 1 Region is ITV 1 Yorkshire and ITV 1+1 Region is ITV 1+1 Yokshire & Tyne Tees, but currently get ITV 1 Yorkshire West ITV 1HD Granada and ITV 1+1 Granada & Border?

ITV should be sorting out the rest of its encrypted ITV1 & ITV1+1 regions on 12402 V.

Like ITV1 Yorkshire East (Belmont), Meridian North (Hannington) & Central South West (Ridge Hill);
plus ITV1+1 Yorkshire West (Emley Moor). All should be going FTA on Astra 1N shortly.

The currently encrypted ITV1 Tyne Tees South (Bilsdale) & Meridian South East (Heathfield) can be turned off on 1/1/12 when they are merging with TT North (Pontop Pyke) & Meridian East (Bluebell Hill & Dover) which are already FTA.

That just leaves ITV1 Anglia South (Sudbury) & East (Tacolneston) to merge on 1/1/12, as both are FTA, that leaves a spare FTA stream to use for ITV1 Anglia West (Sandy Heath) which is currently encrypted.

Then ITV can look at its four HD regions of which two are FTA with different resolutions, and two are encrypted.

So There is (as far as I know?) ITV1HD London (Low res) and ITV1HD Granada (Full HD) that are FTA. What are the two encrpyted ITV1HDs?

I'm still puzzled as to why they keep two ITV1 HD region channels encrypted on Astra 2D narrow beam whilst the other two are FTA. I did email ITV a while ago to ask this very question but the answer I received in no way explained 'why'.

Central West and Meridian South. They mirror the +1 macro regions without Wales and Yorkshire/Tyne Tees (yet).

I am sure the reason involves $ky transponders & making sure that FreeSat has an inferior service.
