Yup on topic and the pretty test bars are coming in strong here in Valencia as well - in fact this particular signal is the strongest yet seen from 1n measuring about 75% on my humble Humax.

Is this 7720 a confirmed 1N signal?

In what way is it better?- I dont need recording as I have a PVR already and I have no problem getting 4HD from Eurobird - is the extra worth it as I get good 1N using the HD.

Checked last night and I get all the "new" channels, still encrypted, but only about the same strength as the other 28.2 satellites...

Channel 4 HD is still stronger, although I thought it was lower last few times I checked but maybe that was a mistake...

BTW slightly off topic but BBC HD currently has a very strange test transmission.

BBC HD showing preview for me...
Are you looking at a test on another transponder?

probably the sync test radiated periodically within the BBC HD preview.

It was a black and white pattern with a bar moving up and down on the right hand side and text that said something like "sound late".

Yeah, it's perfectly normal, they show it once every couple of hours IIRC.

Yes, it's on 10964H, one of the new frequencies allocated to 1N, it is also currently on 12.422 (Astra 2A)

It's getting on for two weeks since Channel 4HD first appeared on the new satellite, I reckon it's close to getting it's proper name and Sky/Freesat boxes retuning to the new frequency and the current EB1 broadcast switched off.

Monday possibly?

1N posts slowing up these days! I guess nothing much happening? I was very interested on the posts about the satellite links that appeared, anything new there?

Slowing up????

Only 61 pages (so far!!!) of posts over about 6 months on every minute twitch of this satellite's planning, launch and commissioning! I do hope that the end results will be worth all this attention!

Well with Big Brother being such a let down since Channel 5 banned the live feed, we need something else to do 24/7.

Some of us don't have a life you know!

Apart from the Freesat users, who will now have to wait another 6 months for 5* and 5USA

The last few days just a hand full of posts, i would call that slowing. Didn't realise 61 pages! And to be honest only a ch4hd to show. maybe after the 122 pages we might get another channel? Keep the good work up rescanning.

Why did they call it 1N, instead of 2E?

It occurred to me that Freesat could lease a transponder on 1N to facilitate any further channels that might want to go FTA but have never been able to gain access to a UK narrow beam before. Sony Entertainment TV, Motors TV and Viva spring to mind but you never know who else given the option might be tempted.

Because we've temporarily nicked it from the 19.2E group

Freeesat don't own any channels or operate any services, they are just an EPG provider, if channels want to go FTA there is plenty of space on the UK beam but that would be upto them

Maybe they're not as interested because the beam is far from narrow?

I'm not advocating Freesat own / operate any channels but just facilitate channels through a sub-lease that require a narrow beam to go FTA that can't afford a whole transponder. Freesat currently lease a transponder on Eurobird 1 for the EPG and associated services but the additional space is available for channels to sub-lease, so it is something they are already doing.

Neither is 2D but as long as the people selling the programme rights to sat. broadcasters are happy then that's all that matters.
