Just put in my order for a bunch of reboot #1s.

Batman, Detective, +Robin, The Dark Knight, Catwoman, Batwoman, Nightwing, Teen Titans, Suicide Squad, Batgirl, Justice League, Action Comics and Superman - for a total of 13.

Anyone beat that, or am I the King of Comics here ??

( btw: very very much doubt I'll be 13ing monthly, just want to see how the Bat-titles handle the reboot changeover type thing. ~£30/month being just too darn much )

My current pull list at Central City Comics is around 40 titles a month. I suspect quite a lot of people buy more than thirty quid's worth of comics a month. That said, I'm still not sure if I'll be bothering to buy any DC titles after the reboot. I've followed the characters for more than thirty years because I liked them as they were, if they're too drastically changed I've no interest in continuing.

I don't mind just being the DC-King if, like you, other big buyers are all waving DC goodbye after reboot day.

Thinking about it, it's more like 36 years actually. As far as DC goes, I'm currently buying about 15 titles I think (all the rest are Marvel or independents) which is about the smallest my DC pull list has gotten since roughly 1985 (at one time, I used to buy most of their books every month). Almost all the DC's I've lately been collecting will not be relaunched in September (Secret Six, .Freedom Fighters, JSA, Power Girl, Booster Gold to name a few) and most of those that are (like Superman, Action and JLA) seem to be being completely rebooted, which I'm not happy about. I suspect the only DC output I'll continue to buy will be the Vertigo titles. I doubt if a lot of the new books (titles like I, Vampire and Frankenstein) will make it past six months before being cancelled as there seems to be little interest being shown in them. The Batman books are probably safe enough as it seems they're not being messed with too much (apart from Barbara Gordon).

Good to meet someone else who's comic collection is getting a severe kick in the nuts come September. I too am more than a bit aggrieved at the ending of Secret Six, Booster Gold and JSA. All of which are consistently good series of comics.

However I will still be buying come September and my list will be reduced to the following:
Batman
Batman and Robin
Nightwing (the best thing about the soft reboot)
JLI
JLA
Maybe Red Lanterns or Red Hood

I haven't bought the Bat titles regularly for years. JLI sounds potentially OK, but it depends how much is altered (and I wasn't keen on Generation Lost, the pointless new origin of Ice which contradicted several previous stories being a real irritant to me). Hawkman might be OK too, though if his connections to the Golden Age are lost, I'm out. The only other JSA related character who seems to be still around is Mr Terrific, who I can't see being strong enough to support a solo title (I still prefer Terry Sloane to Michael Holt).

So you remember them being printed in black+white, right ?!

I've got 16 of the relaunch #1s on order at the moment, alongside other ongoings, limited series, and other new series, such as Captain America, Daredevil, FF, Infinite Vacation, Spider-Man, Invincible Iron Man, and a bunch of others I'm fairly certain that I won't be keeping up with every one of the relaunch titles, but I'm giving a lot of them a chance anyway. Ones I'll definitely be sticking with are Superman, Action Comics, Batman, Detective Comics, Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, and Batwoman. Hopefully I'll like more, though.

Nothing for me. My interest in the garbage DC has been putting out in recent years has dwindled to the point where I only pick up the odd recommended trade here and there, most of which have been disappointments.

I really don't see anything here that's any different from DC's countless reboots over the last few years, each one more hopeless and misguided than the last. The only difference is that they're doing them all at once now.

I was cautiously optimistic that getting back to Superman's roots might finally have been the real reboot the character needed, but the more I see and hear about it, the more obvious it becomes that it's going to be an absolute disaster, so I'm done with DC for the time being.

Well, I certainly remember when most British comics were in black & white. Of course, back then most British comics weren't just reprints of American material...

I've collected comics for 43 years, with a small hiatus when I thought the hobby was getting hijacked with special collectors editions etc.

I got drawn back in when Prelude to Infinite Crisis came out.

I am really enjoying Flashpoint. I think nearly all of the mini-series have been excellent. I've also tried Fear Itself from Marvel and can't get into that at all.

The big change for me in DC continuity came with Crisis on Infinite Earths which turned out to be a total mess, even though some post-crisis comics were good. Surely that was the time DC's characters changed completely.

I don't have, now, the emotional investment I had with the characters then. The death of Supergirl and The Flash were a major thing because I had literally grown up with them.

I will try all of the new #1s and decide which are worth continuing with. I am quite surprised the number of people that are saying they will stop reading DC comics at that point. There was no such strong reaction after CoIE. I'm just hoping for some strong stories and a consistent continuity.

Well, for one thing, Jim Lee wasn't involved back then. And we hadn't already had dozens of desperate deaths, rebirths and reboots for every character, so Crisis seemed like something new and exciting, where this just seems like more of the same... albeit with more turtlenecks, strangely.

I can only speak for myself and say that, for me, it's not so much a ZOMG-THIS-TOTALLY-STINKS-I'M-TAKING-MY-BALL-AND-GOING-HOME reaction, as it is just a tired "meh" to punctuate my dwindling interest and confidence in what DC has been putting out over the last 10 years or so.

There's obviously going to be an initial interest in this, but I doubt it will last very long. In fact, most of these titles seem doomed from the get-go. The real reasons comic books are dying are price and distribution, and possibly targeting the wrong demographic. You used to be able to pick up a cheap comic book on a spinner rack at a petrol station, supermarket, etc, but a $4.99 download is never going to bring back that level of accessibility.

I considered giving up comics due to a combination of the credit crunchness and the whole Batman's Dead storyline - no Bruce so why bother - but kept going mainly because my collection was missing issues (local CBS having ££ troubles) and by the time those gaps where filled Bruce had returned. Also, similarly (ish) to people who do the lottery with the same numbers, in that they HAVE to do it every week just incase they turn up, having ALL the issues from Batman 590 onwards, it'd be a shame to stop now (ok not so similar). Anyway, with the reboot happening now and money still being an issue with loads of people, and with ALL (ish) storylines drawing to a close, this would be the perfect time to just stop and wave goodbye.
On the other hand, being there when all these titles restart, getting myself a bunch of #1s, well that's kinda exciting too. One thing, which I don't know why DC hasn't done it, surely a great marketing tool would have been to reduce the price of all the #1s. Surely that would bring in loads of new customers, and encourage others try out titles they've previously not bothered with.

I was heavily emotionally invested in the characters before COIE, too. The difference is, with the exception of Superman and Wonder Woman and some continuity tweaks regarding the Golden Age characters, they didn't really change much with COIE, they just streamlined the DCU. And, of course, it was the first time it had ever been done. Now, we seem to get a reset every few years and this latest seems like the most extreme yet. I just don't have the inclination to go through it all again. Particularly since they seem to be ditching the JSA, who I've been following since 1976.

Blackest Night and Brightest day, with the umpteen spin-offs that accompanied them, really made a mess of things. Too many titles were dealing with the events, and it was a lot of trouble to try to keep up with them, particularly when they weren't, IMO, actually very good. I like Green Lantern, but two events so large, with so many series, so closely together, was a horrible overload.

I hope that, after Flashpoint, DC will leave the big events alone for a bit and just build up some characters. If they do decide to go for another big event in the next 6-12 months, I hope they try to isolate it.

I might take back everything I said. I've just read Lois Lane will have a new boyfriend in the relaunch Superman title.

Lois/Clark is one of the iconic romances; up there with Elizabeth/Darcy. Married or un-married Clark/Superman & Lois should love each other, no question.

He'll be dead within 6 issues Or he'll turn out to be some super-villain on the scent of Superman.

Well he already is in many respects a villain without having to do anything. He's not Superman's rival, he's Clark Kent's rival. We'll all be routing for Clark to win over Lois no matter how nice this dude actually is in the end.

I was contemplating Deathstroke and Grifter, but waiting to see how they are received first.

These 7 are on top of the 8 Marvel and 2 independents I normally get.

They seem to be downplaying Clark Kent in favour of the alien Kal-El aspect of Superman, if the rumours are true.
