Alan Sugar is the only winner

I think AS only wanted to get close to the Tom's inventions.
The show was entertaining, but if no one but Tom had any chance to win the prize, do you think we all have been mislead? Yes, at the end of the day it is his money and he should have right to choose. But it would be more honest if he did this kind of a choice in the Dragons's show instead.

Someone on DS asked why all previous winners did not stay long with AS. It would be interesting to hear from these winners themselves in their own words. But I don't think they will ever break the silence. AS is too powerful.

The one person from News of the World who blew the whistle has done himself in, allegedly.

How is this relevant to my thread?

Game play may seem unfair, but it's a win-win, really. We get the entertainment, the apprentices get their media exposure and potential career avenues they wouldn't otherwise have, and Sugar gets what he wants.

The prize was an one-year contract with top-notch salary at one of Sugar's companies. Of all winners, I think only two didn't complete the full-year employment. After the full year, the rest were free to accept offers to continue working for Sugar or leave. Since most of them view themselves as entrepreneurs, it doesn't come as a surprise they would leave within two or three years. Nothing sinister I can see there.

If you are happy to be fooled that is your preference.
We as viewers were fooled but nobody seems to mind. This astonish me.

Why would then AS interrogate the candidates as if expects them to work for him for life?
There was never implicit only one year contract was offered. It was however always implied that the chosen candidate would work for AS on a long-term basis.

I'm not sure where you get that idea. I have been watching TA for years and have never been under any illusion that it was a long-term contract.

True. I heard that £50k is prize money and the other £50k is salary. So after the first year there is a £50k drop which is why most don't stay much longer past the first year.

I thought that the winners so called "salary" was funded by the BBC!
