Getting Kelly Rowland's album right!
Seems to be a hot topic amongst the music community (well, those that care) so here's my "international" version of Here I Am:
1. I'm Dat Chick 2. Commander 3. Motivation 4. Lay It On Me 5. Feelin' Me Right Now 6. Forever Is Just A Minute Away 7. Turn It Up 8. Rose Colored Glasses 9. Each Other 10. On & On 11. Down For Whatever 12. Heaven & Earth 13. Grown Ass Woman (Deluxe edition) 14. Hangover (Deluxe edition) 15. Forever And A Day (Deluxe edition) 16. What A Feeling (Deluxe edition) 17. When Love Takes Over (Deluxe edition) 18. Motivation (Diplo Remix) (Deluxe edition) I wouldn't even call it "Here I Am", I'd call it "Commander". And yeah, my tracklisting is more dance heavy, but there are plenty of R&B and pop songs too. Really feel like she should just have released something like the above as the deluxe edition of the album, and not done this "separate tracklists" bullshit, because she's going to miss out on loads of sales from non-R&B music buyers, and will eventually require a re-release no doubt about it. The R&B market in America is small compared to the dance-pop market. Motivation was #1 on the R&B chart, but only peaked at #19 on the main chart -- that's how small it is compared to the rest. GAH!!! ANYWAYS please post your ideal tracklist! |

I disagree. The r&b market is huge huge huge in America. Dance pop music isn't. It's slowly increasing.

The Top 20 of the Hot 100 chart is mostly dance-pop, pop and occasionally upbeat hip hop. This week there are only 2 R&B tracks in the Top 20 (How To Love and Motivation), but if you check their stats, they're only charting because of heavy radio play on R&B-only stations. That is unfortunately what R&B has become in the USA -- something you listen to for free on radio, but don't actually buy. Which is why Nicki Minaj released Super Bass -- expect Kelly to do the same with Down for Whatever or Each Other. |
