Odd sandwich fillings

My wife and I do not have much money due to us both only working part time (and in search of full time work) and my dad grows his own fruit/veg. So when our wages run out and we're stuck for food, as my wife is very fussy I am often restricted to some pretty weird food conbinations.

One I tried last week...Had some fresh home grown cabage and a few eggs. Usually have 2 eggs in an egg sandwich but this time I decided to save an egg, have one egg in it, mash salad cream into it (perfer it to maybe) then put in some boiled cabage and it was lovely! The flavours went really well together and have been paid since and had it a couple of times out of choice

What unusual things have you had in your sarnies and how did you come across them?

I love a banana sandwich mixed with cheese and onion crisps. Delicious and filling.

Tuna, crispy bacon and sweet chilli sauce. I have no idea why I first put them together!

TBF Tuna and bacon sounds pretty good. Not a fan of any sweet source though

Tuna works great with sweet chilli sauce and a bit of mayo in a sarnie. A colleague of mine eats tuna and brown sauce....I'm yet to be convinced!

My own personal favourite is left-over lasagne. Tesco like to think they invented it last year (http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/...x373_popup.jpg) but I've been eating it for years. And mine is a darn site nicer than theirs too!

I'm pretty ashamed to admit this but in my younger days I was partial to a steak pie sandwich with brown sauce haha

My husband regularly eats tuna with crisps in one sandwich, or banana and ham, banana and chocolate spread; ham, waffle and cold baked beans..... he's a freak! lol. I often had cheese and jam sarnies as a kid but couldn't do it now!

According to my OH, raw mushroom sandwhiches are pretty odd

The weirdest thing I've had though is cheese and chocolate spread sandwhiches.. I went through a phase in my mid-teens where cheese + chocolate spread was the answer to every meal

I remember one of the major supermarkets doing a cold sausage and mash sandwich that one of my works colleagues raved about at the time! Just plain wrong IMO!

Tuna & Ham

I remember once my dad making me a sandwich that combined the two.

It was the two ends of the bread (the thick slices) and one normal slice in the middle.

The top half was a reglar ham salad (ham, lettuce, tomato, cheese & salad cream).

The bottom was tuna & cucumber.

It was delish! I'm sure i've made it again since. I might make it this week to see if I remembered it being good

You two sound like you're ready for a Red Dwarf special.
A triple egg sarnie with chilli sauce and chutney. It's a state of the art sandwich but you should be worried about the state of the floor

I like Ham and Marmite, but this sounds tame to some of the combinations out there
