what can i do?

i do have a four digit pin on the iPod but that doesnt normally affect iTunes and i've never had this message before??

I think your best bet would be to turn the power off to the IPod if
You can and leave it to dry out for a day or two because the water inside would do more if you are using it whilst still wet.

Bury it in a bag of rice - the rice will absorb any moisture...

Edit: do it with the headphones plugged in - you don't want any rice grains getting stuck in there...

I've just found an iPod nano that was washed in the washing machine a couple of years back.

I dried it out but it wouldn't work properly, now, however, I plugged it into my PC, did the iPod restore in iTunes, charged it up and it works perfectly - screen and all.

So don't give up hope for yours.

Take it into the apple store and explain what happened (if you have one near you) they'll probs get it working, as it looks like it is sort of working correctly!

I would say theres still hope OP.

Like the above poster said, if you can get up that screen on it, it means that it still is technically working IE the screen seems to be fine, and the electronics maybe arnt so badly damaged beyond repair.

Hi,
i went swimming and didnt realise that I had my ipod in my pocket. a friend recommended covering it with dry rice to absorb the moisture. After about a week a week in the rice i tried it again and it worked fine.

The battery doesnt seem to last as long, but this may just be my imagination.
