Panasonic 5.1 for TV

I am thinking of getting a Panasonic SC-BT230EB-K Blu-Ray 5.1 but in my room I can’t use the rear speakers. I am buying this as it’s a much better deal than the 2.1 version. Can I just forget the rear speakers altogether and just run it off the front, left and centre. Or can I put the rear speakers at the front. Will loosing the rear speakers muck up the sound as I only watch TV & DVD’s and don’t play games.
Thanks

Any half-decent system should let you configure the audio in a variety of ways including setting it to 2.1. Is this a half decent-system? I don't know.
