The point of having a API is for 3rd party development. Aside from iPlayer which I have not tried the remainder of the plugins work great for me. My Movies I would consider essential, got MKV playback and I have a freesat HD and freeview SD tuner both working great.
As for the keyboard, I ordered mine off Amazon. Its pretty small though Logitech do a bigger version. Its also backlit, so ideal for dark rooms.
