Thanks! That's kind. I'll have a look in Holland & Barrett shop or the other health food shop here, when I get a chance.

Luckily, thanks to the miraculous internet, the recipe I use is here. It's been Americanized but the "T" means tablespoons, "t" teaspoons and 2/3 of a cup is 150ml or 1/4 pt water. (I'm sure you know cilantro is Spanish for Coriander.)

You will struggle to find the white poppy seeds outside of an Indian/Pakistani grocers but it really is worth the effort.

The main thing that can go wrong, IIRC, is overcooking/things turning a bit mushy so I'd use a potato that tends to stay quite firm, like Desiree. ”

Thanks, farmhand. We don't have an Indian shop so I might have to postpone them or order them.

What is Palak Paneer - sounds interesting. Also, what's your recipe for Chana Masala? Cheers.

I've got a bag of buckwheat flour leftover from some (unsuccessful) blini recipe so might have a go at this too if they turn out all right.

@ Kim. I waited months till I went up to London but just seen you can order them for 80p here! They also have the Black Onion (Nigella) seeds in case you don't have any of those. Both very nice spices.

Excellent. I looked on Amazon and they were a small fortune with postage added!

An Indian takeaway I used to go to always used to provide a plastic bag filled with raw onion. Is that what they call a salad? Always baffled me.

If it was coloured red it's what they call onion chutney, usually served with poppadums

No it was literally just chopped white onion in a bag.
