As Unigal07 says, a really good idea to start an appreciation thread so the 'twisted' people on the other Amy threads can't spew their bile.

I was very sad to hear the news of Amy's passing at the Weekend. It's weird because I was shocked but not surprised IYSWIM. Such a waste of a massive talent and a young life. The only good thing about musical icons passing is that they leave behind a legacy that can be shared for years/generations to come. I'm sure that will happen with Amy's music; she was just too good to be forgotten.

And how great that out of such tragedy comes a positive thing - many more people will now be experiencing the amazing music she left us, tomorrow, next week and in the months and years to come.

R.I.P.

Did anyone read the Souviner book of Amy in today's The Sun?

I kept it and i will be putting up a poster of her on my wall soon. I always wanted a poster of Amy anyway. Just didn't think it would be in these circumstances.

I also would like to add that I reckon the Mercury Prize Award Ceremony and The Grammys will do a lovely tribute to her. Also The Brits as well.

I have been thinking that maybe the BRITS will give her a tribute award next year.

Thoughts?

I think if her label release her third album later this year she could go as far as winning more than a few Grammys...

M.I.A. has released a tribute to Amy in the form of a song called 27.

I think it's really good.

Also, U2 paid tribute to her by dedicating Stuck In A Moment to her in their concert. It was really sweet of them to do that.

When people like Prince and U2 are paying tribute to you, you know you've made an impact.

I was never a music buyer back when BTB was released so I since I started, I never even thought it it. Will definitely get the re-released version soon.

Message of condolence from Black Sabbath bassist/founding member, Geezer Butler, describing her as "one of my all-time favourite musicians"

Interesting to see messages like this from musicians performing completely different genres. She certainly had a widespread appeal.

According to reports Amy's favourite record was played at her funeral , Carole King - So Far Away , a very poignant song for the occasion .

I'd just like to say that while I never listened to Amy's music music much when she was alive, I've been checking out both her albums over the past few days and I'd never realised just how talented she was. She has some truly incredible songs, and she will be very sorely missed.

Good to have a thread which can be simply devoted to the memory of Amy. I love her music.

I don't mind people saying they don't like her music but for anyone to suggest she's talentless and only a celebrity just reveals their own ignorance. I've seen some other people on here saying they only read about her as a celeb but have now heard some of her songs and realise that she did indeed have talent.

I saw her on a documentary talking about a jazz/blues singer a while ago and it was obvious that she had an in-depth knowledge and commitment to music.

Doubtless, if DS had existed when Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison etc died, some DS members would be calling them names and denying their talent, too. It's a state of mind, quite an unpleasant one and revealing.

Hi everyone,

I've been a fan for a number of years. I was planning on seeing her back in 06/07 but didn't get the chance, which I now regret.

My grandmother is also a fan and she says Amy has one of the best voices she's ever heard.

I don't have a link because I'm on my phone, but I just watched her interview on Ross years ago around the release of Frank.

When he asked her about her management, and whether anyone had tried to mold her into anything else, she replied;

''One guy tried to make me into a big triangle, and I was like 'No!' *Making Square Shape*''

She was very funny.

There's not much i didn't love about Amy Winehouse, I can't believe she died on Saturday afternoon and today; her funeral has taken place...she was cremated and yet It still hasn't really sunk in - but she's gone.

I'll miss Amy; she was incredibly talented - when she sung and she was "on it" I believed every word that came out of her mouth. I honestly don't know if her next album would have been any where as brilliant as Back to Black, but she gave me two off my favourite albums ever and I'll continue to sing, listen to and play her music.

I loved how she liked to change arrangements of her songs when she sung live, it meant she was never a boring live singer, I just regret that I'll never her see her live - I always hoped she'd beat her addictions...and she'd be back touring in the UK in the throws of her promised Comeback - but it will never be... #

I spent today listening to her music and have a little drink to celebrate her life.

Anyway, one of my favourite Amy Winehouse performances:

I'm sure I saw this book when I was in HMV last.

Found this on HMV online for £6.99 cheaper than Amazon.
