she must have been quite insecure already to be attracted to him

i reckon the fact she wasn't a pretty pretty girl contributed to her low self image, espesh with our gutter press being the way it is

She looks beautiful and that voice, what a shame.

Before the tatts and the ever expanding beehive look I think she was very attractive. Look at some of the old pictures when she first hit the headlines.

i agree but she wasn't conventionally pretty in the way most pop-stars are, she got slated for her looks / look

Watching it now. Her eyes are sort-of expressionless, sad.
Quite a duet though - Amy & Paul Weller doing Grapevine.

Would never really have called myself a fan, never listened to much of her stuff other than the obvious and as a casual viewer her druggie lifestyle etc that you saw in the press too took precedent over her music. Watching the Jules Holland thing now though and it's so sad, she was obviously very talented and had so much potential, seeing her in the earlier days, clean, minus beehive and talking passionately about her music - such as waste.

I'm very sad watching this.

I think she was very attractive before Blake, the beehive and tattoos, she seemed to be at her very best then and had a unique style.

Just watched the Jools Holland tribute, she was really at her best then, especially loved the Paul Weller duets. Such a shame and such a loss.

the songs are fab but the in between talks are cringeworthy, she seems like an aggressive drunk- get the impression she's not really enjoying herself

She was raw emotion.I always believed she felt every word she sung. Even with this concert, as she got drunk towards the end - It didn't negate from what she was singing.

Sh fused all these old school influences together and was still contemporary and influentual herself.

She got me through some shit, shame she didn't make it through her own.

Love this version of Valerie.

Lucky you, when she was good she was good, when she was bad, I would've forgiven her.
