How long leftover Chinese safe?
Iggy's Boy
24-07-2011
A bit of an oldie, sorry, but can I just get a quick straw poll (without a poll) on whether it's safe to eat leftover Chinese takeaway tonight that I put in the fridge Thursday night.

Special fried rice
Sweet and Sour Pork
Chicken Chow Mein

Thanks!

I wouldnt risk it. Rice develops spores quite quickly. Or something.

If I have leftover take away from Thursday the latest I'd eat it was Saturday breakfast / Lunchtime. But its unusual that any takeaway would last that long!

They say rice can be dodgy if its reheated but I have never had a problem with it. But not after 3 days so I wouldn't chance it. I would use the rest but reheat it thoroughly.
P.S. I accept no liability for your health!

As long as it didn't sit out for too long before you put it in the fridge it'll probably be OK.

This site says all that stuff should keep for 3-4 days in the fridge.

I would have chucked the pork and kept the rest! Never had a problem with reheating rice, i do it all the time.

I just ate the chicken chow mein and no ill effects.

Official: 3 day old leftover chicken chow mein SAFE.

I think the pork would have been fine too though. I've eaten three or more day old leftover roast pork before now and it's been fine. Don't see why this would have been any different.

I was more worried about the rice and the seafood in it.

I have frozen half a chinese takeaway and eaten it a week later, no problem

I think rice is OK to keep so long as you stick it in the fridge quite quickly. Make sure it is covered and let it cool down. But don't leave it outside the fridge for hours.

It's a done deed now I see but I am the king of eating things I probably shouldn't do, but do anyway.

I picked up a large order of Chinese on friday night. I aimed to eat it over the weekend and that I did!
What's more is that owing to one thing and another, not one part of it was refrigerated during that time.
I finished the last of it off last night.
And guess what, I'm still here folks.
