God, now you're going back! The only time I ever had access to those old cable channels was when we used to go to Centerparks and they had cable tv in every room. (which was quite a novelty in 1988!)

I wonder whatever happened to Nino Ferretto..?

One of my absolute favourites from the 80's has to be Grace Jones - Slave To The Rhythm from around 1985 I think. Loved the video and have the 12" vinyl of it.

Another two are Behind The Mask by Greg Philingaines and Duel by Propaganda.

Loved the 80's, one of, if not the, best decades for music IMHO.

A nice thing to think of I must say, and so my top ten favourates, (one from each year), starting from 1980 are,

1. Echo Beach - Martha & The Muffins
2. One Of Us - Abba
3. Classic - Adrian Gervitz
4. Words - F R David
5. Sad Songs - Elton John
6. Cherish - Kool & the Gang
7. Rain Or Shine - Five Star
8. It's A Sin - Pet Shop Boys
9. Wild World - Maxi Priest
10. Leave A Light On - Belinda Carlisle

I must be showing my age here although for the record I am in my early 30's.

What do you think of my choices? There were so many to choose from, and some that I had forgotten about most of them for good reason.

As for the B52's song Love Shack, I can confirm that it was in fact May 1990.

Can't make a final decision but top 5 would be (in no particular order)

How Could You Break My Heart - Bobby Womack

All This Love That I'm Giving - Gwen McRae

Love Games - Level 42.

Give Me The Night - George Benson

MasterBlaster - Stevie Wonder

Theres 100's more I could name as well. The 80's were the years I went from my teens and really defined my taste in music. By the late 80's, I was doing the whole weekenders scene and they really were some of the best times of my life.

The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary
Human League - Don't You Want Me
New Order - True Faith
ABC - Poison Arrow
Duran Duran - ANYTHING!
Toni Basil - Mickey (come on, got to have at least one dodgy pop tune in there)

....and about a thousand others......as you can see I am nothing if not eclectic

the best thing about 80s music is that fact its clearly split in to : the classics and the cheese but then the two are fused back together as they are all classics

take for example : sam fox - touch me such a crap cheesy tabloid tune. but listen to it today - classic

Erm not sure about that one, old Sam never had much of a voice did she.
But she did have a lovely pair of hits- Touch Me and the seminal (was for me anyway) Do Ya Do Ya Wanna Please Me
