Now if only 4OD would join the Freesat ondemand section, I would be able to dump Virgin's box.

Looks like there is a chance you will soon be able to - see this article on JoinFreesat yesterday:

That is good news

I was reading yesterday about the new spec for freesat being G2 with the added apps etc. It looks like an exciting time for Freesat coming up over the next year.

I haven't had chance to play with this myself yet, but has anyone seen how the PayWall will work yet - or in other words - do you have to put your credit card in the HDR?

Tried ITV Player on 903 last night and got a message "video cannot be played" or similar. This was on any item I tried. (Humax HDR, BBC i-player works perfectly)

Tried it last night about 8.30, only tried a couple of programs but it worked fine.
But of course you have to wait for the ad (which was an ad for ITV4!) to buffer & start playing, then after that the programme to buffer & start to play.

Didn't get as far as any ad! I'll try it again tonight. Edit: I tried it around 10pm.

I'm getting damn all. Is it because I cancelled the last 3am update or is it because my postcode is well north of the border ?

Could be both , try a borders postcode during a freesat retune.
