I have some ideas too, but how are we going to make compromises? What if others don't like our ideas and then arguments ensue etc?

Would this be a late night soap?
No, soaps aren't late night. There could be a slot at about 5: 15... maybe when The Weakest Link ends.

Please put your 6 votes forward on the thread: EE Most Under Used Characters 2011 If you could that'll be great. All you have to do is explained on the first post. But instead of doing 3, do 6.

OK, I understand that you want people to vote in your thread, and I get really annoyed when no one votes. But I think interfering in other threads is going too far, and it could disrupt the topic. Sorry, but this is not on.

Well, I think there would always be creative differences. But if we use an effective voting system, the majority would always have their say, and any writer that finds his idea pushed out would just have to have a bit of humility. Maybe their idea will be accepted next time?

Whatever happened to the poster who said he had created a soap and was going to pitch it to a TV company, so created a thread on here asking for ideas for improvements? It went from his idea to everyone's idea tbh. I think he might have been lying about the pitch. Anyone remember?

Oh thanks feel free to use it i only have one family so far consisting of a fisherman, Royce, who is trying to cope with making a living on his boat whilst also raising his tomboy daughter, Hannah, and gay son, Sam, after their mother, Mary, died of cancer. But feel free to take that setting and add more families to it if you want i got brain freeze on it.

Set in the village of Branston, where the tight-knit community all stick together.

The main family, the Queens:
Matt - the dad, aged 38. He is the headmaster in the local school, and is a family man. But lately his job has been getting in the way and making things far from plain sailing... Played by Tony Hirst (Mike in Hollyoaks)
Kelly - the mum, aged 39. On the outside, an ordinary mum, always rushed off her feet and puts her family first. But is there something deeper underneath? Played by Samantha Janus (Ronnie in Eastenders)
Katy - the Queens oldest daughter, aged 17. To her parents, she is the perfect daughter, but little do they know she harbours a secret that is every parents worst nightmare... Played by Bonnie Wright (Ginny in Harry Potter)
Chloe - the Queens other daughter, aged 13. She is a bit spoilt, but a good girl underneath. Played by ?
Jack - the Queens only son, and Chloe's twin. He is a bit of a mischeif maker but deep down he cares for people. Played by ?

Other characters:
Justin Smith - Katy's tearaway boyfriend, aged 18. Matt and Kelly dissaprove of him, but Katy is secretly seeing him. He has a criminal record, but Katy still trusts him with her life. Played by Ben Ryan-Davies (Ronan in Waterloo Road)
Carl Kross - Kelly's brother, aged 34, who owns the local pub. He recently moved to the village to try and make ammends with Kelly. Played by Stefan Booth (Greg in Eastenders)
Kylie Kross - Carl's glamorous wife. She urged him to buy the pub, but is not happy when she learns of the Queens' presencse... Played by Sophiya Haque (Poppy in Coronation Street)
Ben Prark - the PE teacher at the local school, aged 27. A strapping young man, Ben has the uncanny ability to set aflutter the hearts of students and colleagues alike! Played by Ricky Whittle (Calvin in Hollyoaks)
Julie Prark - Ben's beautiful wife, aged 29. She works as a hairdresser, but dreams of getting her own salon. Played by Rachel Leskovac (Natasha in Coronation Street)

That's it atm. Sorry I couldn't be a bit more imaginative with the 'casting'

I would create a soap centred on a fitness centre/health spa complex. The sort of storylines it would focus on would be mainly about health and image, with things such as steroid abuse and bulimia being quite prominent.

The main characters would be a combination of staff and regular customers of the complex. On the face of it the show would appear quite glam, especially with a couple of bitchy rich women who are regulars in the spa but there would be seedy undertones. Footballers Wives meets Shameless.

I always think a wedding from the main family would be a good opening scene as you can work out everyones name and relationship easily and quickly. E.g Father of the bride, bride, groom, best man, bridesmaids and groomsmen, vicar, people talking bout their history at the reception.
That way viewers are in the frame from 1st episode
