Pasta with barely anything on is really nice at times! I sometimes fry some garlic in olive oil and just use that as a dressing. Simple but very tasty, and allows you to also appreciate the taste of the pasta.

Pasta with olive oil, lots of chopped garlic and gently cooked plum tomatoes goes surprisingly well with good old British fried fish in batter! Makes a pleasant change from chips!

I limit my pastsa intake these days so when I do actually have it I have the wholemeal variety (boring )”

Ahh, I'm not alone - good to know.

I'm eating a lot of salad at the moment. It's quite nice and refreshing but looks depressing

I had wholemeal pasta a few weeks ago. It wasn't too bad, but regular pasta is so much nicer. I particularly love Batchelors Cheese, Leek & Ham packeted pasta I think I could eat it forever.

I have some of that stuff. Is it nice? Nothing I love better than pasts, especially if it's done in Hollandaise or white sauce or with cheese/ham/chicken in it

These are 2 of my faves, another being Gigli.

When I have pasta on a Saturday, I like to put the sauce on my plate then add the pasta and mix them. Conversely, if I have pasta midweek (more likely to be spaghetti), I put the pasta on my plate and the sauce on top.

Pasta... let me count the ways I lurve you....

Spaghetti with marmite sauce, black pepper and grated cheddar
Linguine with shaved courgette lightly fried in oil/garlic, adding chilli, lemon, creme fraiche, parmesan
Cold pasta salads of any description
And as others have said, even with butter, pepper and parmesan is delish.

Spaghetti with marmite sauce sounds unusual but something I'd actually quite like to try!

I'd also just like to add right now that Pizza Hut pasta is amongst the worst I have ever eaten.

21st CB, Nigella did it recently on the telly. I have to say the first time I tried it I found it rather strange but it's now a firm favourite.

However, I add a small squirt of tomato puree at time of mixing sauce & spag, and have grated mature cheddar on top instead of parmesan.

Go on, give it a whirl and let us know what you think....

LOVE pasta and still can't understand why its bad for you

Pesto pasta and macaroni are amongst my favourites. In Italy I had a wonderful pear stuffed ravioli with a cheese sauce, absolutely delicious

I love tagliatelle and conchiglie are my favourites to use at home, however I do love a cannelloni instead of lasagne and for some reason that I don't know, I can't stand spaghetti

I don't understand how it is bad for you. In fact, I refuse to believe it is....

I love it

I'm quite proud of myself though - I was walking around sainsburys the other day, saw some of it and didn't pick it up.

I'm being good!

Last time I was over in the UK I bought a few packets in Sainsburys and carried them back to Ireland I do that a lot as sometimes stuff is cheaper and I haven't seen that stuff over here yet.

Sainsbury's pasta is nice, and indeed the Gigli I mentioned above I get there. As my nearest one doesn't have Gigli I sometimes use one less nearby. While the Pound/ Euro exchange rate might benefit people coming here, I conversely saw some pasta sauce in a Dunnes Stores supermarket that seemed good value for money. I didn't buy any in the end though. Now I know why you headed back to Ireland by ferry. I can imagine how the airport staff would have reacted had they seen your hand luggage include pasta!
