Beth Cordingly and Natalie Roles, who play Kerry Young and Debbie McAllister respectively are to leave The Bill by the end of the year. Cordingly's character Kerry will meet a gruesome end on duty, whilst Roles' character McAllister will be seen leaving in a low-key storyline at Christmas. Her contract was up for negotiation, but she opted not to re-sign. Natalie has been in the show since the episode 'On the Hook Part I' in November 2000, joining in the post-Beech clear-out of Sun Hill CID. She has just finished filming her final scenes, which imply that the door has been left open for a possible return. McAllister will be on screens until Christmas. This brings the total number of cast leaving to 6, alongside with Jim Carver (Mark Wingett), Rob Thatcher (Brian Bovell) and Ken Drummond (Russell Floyd) and C.A.D. operator Dean McVerry (Luke Hamill )

Natalie's not exactly in it much - i wonder if Debbie will finally get a promotion or she'll just leave the force all together.

Pm hasn't had a large cull of axing since the start of 2003 - i totally anticapted this happening and should make The Bill good viewing over the next few months and Christmas.

She could be promoted and transfered. However, in my opinion, she is not even good enough to be a Sergeant.

Whoa - have I missed something?

Jim Carver leaving? He's part of the furniture, I can't see that happening.

Rob Thatcher is obviously on his way out in the current storyline and Kerry has been known for a while.

Not surprised Debbie's out though - since Chandler died, we've not seen her best, just turned into a single mum looking for babysitting.

And as for Dean? Is he technically a character? I've counted him on screen just a handful of times! Waste of a character if you ask me!

Matt

I think Dean has been treated as a token disabled person. The producers obviously thought they were being so 'right-on' by casting a disabled actor but they've just wasted this opportunity. This tokenism does nothing to address the serious lack of disabled characters on mainstream tv shows.

Sorry, I'll now get off my soapbox.

You have a point, I was waiting for the storyline where we get to know this character. I think his best storyline so far has been wheeling himself through the middle of a conversation on the way to the canteen - cutting edge stuff!

WHY AXE DEAN MCVERRY?

He's had so many storylines. He's been used by TPTB for his great acting strength. He acted well throughout, he had such depth!

Why axe him?

Jim Carver I can understand, he's hardly been in it since he arrived! He's not really any loss, its not like he's been in it since the beginning or anything...
