I thought it was all gonna get worse, me. I was really nervous before each episode.

Oh Brendan said he fancied Ste. Nothing major.

Ah ok yes they were pants, thank god the last couple of nights had better writers, BB and Ste are too good to be wasted on naff writers.
Yeah, the worst thing was, they weren't even bad episodes, but I think he struggled to write Brendan. Compare them to any episode from Tuesday onwards where the writers totally nailed who Brendan is.

there's a thread on the main forum about storylines HO haven't done yet and someone suggested that Finn could become a male prostitute
Diane would love that.

I thought it was all gonna get worse, me. I was really nervous before each episode.

Ha! Me as well. And for it all to end in bitter, angry beer throwing and Brendan being all furious and more possessive than ever.

Sounds boring that, glad I missed it.

That scene in the club where Brendan tells Stephen to come back later for a drink and a chat. When he pats his white-trackie-bottomed knee and says Good lad, it's so full of pain and fear and love watching it back, now that we know about 29 July

Got to agree. If that was Johnny Larkin, the one who tweeted Emmett, then he completely dropped the ball in those two epis. It was like he was so in love with the idea of 'writing Brendan' he completely forgot to write dialogue that anyone would actually say. That scene in the bar where Brendan was needling Ste about Noah's job, and he threw in the name 'Stephen' about every other sentence, that was just bad writing. Even Emmett couldn't get his mouth around it. And Ste just seemed shirty rather than vulnerable. I loathed it.

/end rant.

When Ste like, pushes up against Brendan, I love that bit.

I actually love all of it. So.

ETA: It's amazing that, in the same episode Noah's leaving, they write Ste bang on. Like they've finally just realised "We need to write this guy like his character would act." cause ever since Noah arrived, it was anything but.

Yeah exactly, and the episodes where they get BB and Ste's characters right are the one's that stand out. I also feel Ste has finally been better written, this week it's been the best for ages and Kieron performed it brilliantly

I love that scene mainly because you know Ste must have been incredibly 'in the mood', as it were, and Brendan leave shim hanging.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, I agree. I loved little moments like him stealing Ste's coffee but compare those two episodes to say, Wednesday's E4, where Ste and Brendan were still being catty with each other quite a bit (and had their little public row), and it's a word away in terms of quality.

ETA: This has easily been the best week for Ste's character since the baseball bat attack.

yes, when he was eith Noah he allways seemed quite weak to me, like he couldn't be without Noah. I don't know if that was because he was with Noah all the time or because they had to change the character a bit so that he could plausibly be with someone like Noah. He seems alot more independant when he's with Brendan (like he is more his own character)

Ooh I agree with this.

Like, when Brendan asked them for help with the cooking, and Ste went "If it's alright with you." to Noah.

I was literally sat there thinking "He'd never do that. That's not Ste at all." and it annoyed me.

It just got better and better as the week went on and ended with a spectacular climax

Ste was so badly written and at times almost forgotten about whilst he was with Noah, was so pleased to see him back all fiesty and confident

yes, Ste is his own person and when he was with Noah it was like they couldn't do things seperatley, how many times from when they got together did we see Noah do things on his own?
Also when Noah tried to suck Brendans neck and then Ste ran straight back to him, that was quite out of character i thought, Ste would usually be stronger than that.

What's really weird is, when Noah told Ste he loved him, he took him back straight away. But when Brendan said it, he was really reluctant at first.

So for me, it proved that he didn't need to be told he was loved. Because Brendan said it. And instead of going straight back to him, he made him work for it a little. But he didn't do that with Noah, and it's something I really thought Ste would do.

BIB: Apt choice of words.

Oh I know, literally the minute that post-baseball bat hospital episode ended, they forgot who Ste was, just so they could write the triangle.

And literally, as soon as it ended, Ste was back to his usual self.

I agree. He's learning how to get back on his own two feet and not completely rely on others. He's less likely to take crap now and BB must realise this.

I can rant, when I'm in the moooood. Sometimes, I don't like to rant on here about things I dunt like, because I don't want to bring other people down. But like Lman said, now I know it's all gone massively right and the writing and characterisation's back to scratch, I'm can admit that I was on the brink of calling it a day. Just cos all the Noah stuff has been SO bad, and I just thought this was shaping up to be as well, and it was painful to watch. And then it just clicked into place in the episode where Ste made up his mind to go and broke Brendan's heart in two. Everything since then has been amazing.

Reeeeeeally hopeful about Declan, even though I think for Brendan and Ste this is going to be a massively bumpy and heartbreaking ride. But if the writing's damn good, I can live with it.

So true. And I wonder if part of that was because they had committed to the story PM wanted to tell with the "classic" triangle and obviously contracted Law but realised that it probably wasn't going to work.

i think it's because Ste was afraid of being hurt by Brendan again, going back tgo Noah meant Brendan shouldn't be able to touch him. And Noah said all the right things to convince Ste that he was good for him (even if he didn't mean it)
but with Brendan i think Ste allready knew Brendan loved him and being told byBrendan didn't chnge that much because Ste needed to know that he'd be safe if he went back to Brendan. I don't know if it was really about being loved for Ste (although i know that's important) as much as being safe and having to hide away.

Exactly

It's going to be really interesting to see how he responds to BB when Declan arrives. I hope he remains strong and fiesty and doesn't revert straight back to whimpering victim, it must progress...
