Recording two channels at once
hexane

Hello,

We currently have Sky Plus but want to cancel Sky and use freesat instead.

We went into Comet looking for a suitable hard drive recorder and the only one they had for freesat was a Humax (I can't remember which model) which said it could record one channel while you watched another.

I asked the assistant if it could also record two channels at once and he said no. He went on to say that no such recorders are made, other than by Sky.

I found this rather bizarre particularly as when I later read the freesat leaflet I picked up in Comet it said you could record two channels at once.

I would be grateful if someone could clarify what the situation is and perhaps recommend a recorder that will do what we want.

Many thanks, Roger

The Humax FOXSAT-HDR does record two programs at the same time like a Sky+ box does.

And unlike a Sky box let's you watch some third channels while recording two.

In fact, it can record two channels while watching a third, which is a trick that a Sky box can't do!

Thanks for your quick responses, Gentlemen. Clearly the assistant at Comet wasn't too well informed!

Cheers, Roger

The Samsung one also has the same record features as the Humax-HDR.

Automan.

In fact, I'm convinced that all the Freesat recorders can do it! I think it's the norm these days rather than the exception.

afaik they all record two and let you watch a previous recording. Recording two and watching a third live channel is a lot rarer,

Not surprised.

When I bought mine, I knew more about it than the Comet Guy.
