New Virgin Mobile tariffs

Virgin have changed their pay monthly tariffs. Wow! Are they expensive! I cant believe that some of their plans include just 25 texts and cost almost £20p/m! They've also put up the prices of their handsets too.

My contract just came to an end... Think i'll be looking elswhere.

I noticed that too.

On both SIM only monthly and 24 month contracts ( no 18 month contract, why? ) they are offering:

less standard minutes
standard 3000 Virgin mobile to Virgin mobile
5GB of Mobile Web
5000 Txts.

They need to rethink the tariffs. ( Yes I know if you don't like it you can go elswhere )

Branson needs to seriously buy out the cable lot from the mobile business. It's shockingly bad now.

I have been on Virgin Pay & Go since 2001 and still on the original pay & go tariff which gives me free voicemail.

The addict tariff and the pay monthly tariffs now are so expensive that I wouldn't consider these at all.

If not for the free voicemail, then i would leave and join giff gaff.

Virgin is now too expensive and it isn't just mobile phones - they are also very expensive for tv and telephone packages. They are no longer competitive.

Typical new customer on the Addict PAYG tariff:

26ppm
50p flat fee for data usage up to 25MB.

PAYG bundles are crap too.

If it wasn't for me being on the Daily Bonus tariff (16ppm with 5 free mins and texts after 5 mins of spending/5 texts) which Virgin no longer sell to customers, I'd be off.

I only do PAYG.

My main Virgin phone is still on Daily Bonus.

I've just bought a couple of extra unlocked phones from CPW, which come with £10 top-up from CPW once received. On Addict tariff @ 26p/min

I was able to transfer these 2 x £10 top ups to my main Virgin number, because they were top-ups, and not credit on phones when purchased.

So I ended up with two extra unlocked phones for very little.

(I think CPW generally sell unlocked phones because they offer tariffs from different providers for the same phone, a good tip for the future.)

That's a great tip, thanks.

I normally use my Virgin Rewards (£10 for every £100 spent) to upgrade my phone for either nothing or a small fee.
