BT, what century are you living in?

Just received my brand spanking new BTVision+ box only to find it comes with a scart lead!

I feel like I've gone back in time

Just out of interest, its supposed to be HD - can it even do that with a scart lead?

no, not with a scart lead, needs HDMI.

the box isn't really HD either.

It can output to a HD resolution but all the available stuff to watch in HD has to be downloaded and is outwith all the TV packs. i.e. costs more...

anyway..if you think its bad now.....

Thanks for your reply PureGenius

Also, bit tiresome to find that the remote control is operating both the Plus and the 'original' vision boxes at the same time....sigh.

Original box with recordings still on it to watch - new one on 'trial' for BT.

If I delete an item on one box a matching one (same series, different episode) deletes off the other - makes life interesting

I don't have anywhere else to put the other box. We only watch telly in the lounge. Shocking, I know, but we're old fashioned like that

Put some black tape over the remote sensor on the box you don't want to control

Thanks. Sounds a simple but good idea. Guessing I'd have to peel it off to watch......

There is defo something odd about this new box though. I put it on the other day and found myself on Russia Today and that it had decided to record a series of programmes from that channel. A whole series!

It also throws in 4 hour breakfast radio programmes from time to time and its not as though they are at the same times as anything else I might have ever recorded. Quite bizarre.

If you have two boxes connected to the hub, then strange things can/do happen. I have two boxes and tried to get them both to work. Eventually gave up. It was if they were competing against each other.

As a matter of interest, the new box you are trialing - is it the next generation box? HD/You View PVR?

Strange things indeed! I have had loads of my recordings from the original box disappear. Including those which I hard marked keep until I delete. It is very annoying.

Re blacking out the remote sensor, does anyone know where it is? I tried several areas but nothing worked. I began to wonder if it was wireless rather than infrared controlled.

I don't know what the trial is called. My Husband signs up for these things and never bothers to fill me in on all the details. I don't think it is one of those which you mentioned. If I can find the name of it - I'm sure it was on something somewhere - then I'll PM you rather than put it on here, if that's ok?

To get recordings back you need to remove one box from the ethernet connection, take the power lead out of the second and then replace the power lead. This will then reboot the box and replace your recordings.

If you get close to the box you should be able to see a sqaure - this is the receiver.

As the trial, then PM me.

Take a week off and watch all your recordings on the old box then chuck it out.
Problem solved.
