Pwei

Poppies are on Patrol!

Well, Graham Crabb has rounded up some other musicians for a tour under the Pop Will Eat Itself Name....

Levellers, Wonderstuff, Primal Scream and PWEI all in one year playing all their classic stuff? Too good to be true After a bit of digging I understand they're not quite the PWEI I once knew and loved, no Clint Mansell involved and they're quite a bit heavy.

Has anyone any idea what Pop Will Eat Itself actually sounds like now?

I don't care as long as they can still play RSVP.

Clint's a bit busy elsewhere these days.

I used to go and watch PWEI in the early days. They were brilliant. Not sure they'd be able to recreate the energy of those gigs now. Mind you, I can't dance like I used to, either.

im also in two minds about this. to me clint was the main man, he was pwei.

i managed to see them a few years ago when the did the reunion tour at bham acadamy and they still rocked.

never went to see any vile evils stuff, and in two minds weather to spend the £16 to get a ticket for this

Without Clint it's pointless. I'm surprised they are even allowed to use the name.

I only saw them once at the Arena in Boro, think it was about the time Cure for Sanity was out and I saw Fuzz Townsend there too in the late 90's. Weird gig that, drummer on stage with a load of candles.

New album's very good, albeit something of a grower.

Can't wait to see them live again - Friday night in Liverpool.

I disagree that it's pointless without Clint. Listening to the new album it would seem that his were the better lyrics, but overall it's still PWEI, Graham singing - no Clint to bounce off so maybe not perfect but hey, it's been 17 years so I'm just happy to have this new record.

There doesn't sound like there is any acrimony either, so hopefully there is a chance of a full reunion (or at least Clint having some time to rejoin for an album)....

We can dream, can't we?
