Shelly
Shelly is my nomination for Player of the Season. Here's why.
At the start of the game she found herself amongst 8 new players. It was apparent that they were being led by people a lot younger than her and that, to them, she would only ever be a vote, if they managed to stay intact. When she saw the Veterans come in, she saw her opportunity. Rather than sheltering behind the obvious newbie targets; Keith, Dominic and Cassi and waiting to be picked off after them (or by them), Shelly went to work. As soon as the Veterans won the 1st HoH she approached them, knowing they needed her vote. This move alone guaranteed her a place in the Jury, because the Veterans needed to keep her (vote) safe and the newbies were targeting the Veterans anyway. Shelly knew that the newbies first targets were Dick and Dani, followed by Brenchel, then Jeff and Jordan. So she made the calculation that, of all the Vets, J+J were most likely to make the Jury. Which is why she specifically aligned with them. Thus guaranteeing her 2 precious Jury votes if she makes it to F2. It also helps that J+J are easier to live with and much more trustworthy than any of the other Vets. In the meantime she figured out how to play Brenchel. She panders to Brendon's pomposity, hypocrisy and spite, while playing on all of Rachel's very obvious insecurities. Shelly made sure that her targets (Cassi, now Kalia) are top of their hit/hate list. Shelly is the one who filled Cassi's head full of "mean girl" nonsense to such an extent that she ended up blaming, then even calling out Rachel for being "jealous" of her. Cassi was still blaming Rachel for her eviction, all the way out of the door. All inspired by Shelly's desire for a Golden Key and the safety it assured. Shelly has set herself up brilliantly and she is not likely to be targeted for at least another 3 weeks. Shelly is cleaning House in more ways than one. Bravo! So far anyway. |

She's a good player but we're only like three weeks in...don't really think you can call anyone the 'player of the season' just yet.
I also don't think she played much of a role in Cassi's eviction. I knew on the very first night that if Cassi and Shelly went up that it'd be Cassi getting evicted...for the first couple of days and especially after the first HOH, Shelly just seemed like an older version of Jordan; nice woman but weak at competitions and wouldn't pose much of a threat by herself. |

1. Rachel, in particular, was willing to use the Veto on Dominic, if she won it, even against the wishes of J+J. Ofcourse Dani was active in this for her own reasons, but nevertheless, Shelly worked Brenchel just as hard. 2. When her allies J+J were faced with having to make a renomination, Shelly made no effort to get them to nominate Kalia / Lawon. She wanted to sacrifice her "friend", for a Golden Key. Shelly played her full part in Cassi's eviction, but her fingerprints are nowhere to be found. |

Trust me the bitch is being found out what a two faced bitch she is, the only people who actually fall for it is the vets (minus Dani), and maybe Adam.
Its a shame shes such a horrid women, and she didn't constantly bitch how truthful and honest she is, when we all know what she is really like. I for one cant wait untill shes gone, the sooner the better. And she might not be safe for the next few weeks, a couple of them are already on to her, so hopefully she will be up on the block soon and voted out

Your personal distaste for Shelly is irrelevant to my opinion of her as a game player, so I won't bother with it. She can count on 3 weeks of safety because there are 3 huge targets still in the House. Who on earth is going to target her, with Dani, Rachel and Jeff still there?
I love liars like her. ![]() Shelly thinks she has everyone around her little finger, but thats not the case, people are already seeing what she is really like, and thank god. You like her, I dont, and what I have seen not many other people like her. |

And when Dom brought this up during the argument last week, she laughed it off and said she would never do such a thing
I hate liars like her, again my previous post expresses how I fell about her. ![]() I feel like your letting your personal feelings about Shelly stand in the way of the fact that she's playing a strong game so far. I'm not crazy about her as a person, but I think she's doing really well. I felt the same about Hayden last year too!

Yeah Shelly definately has a strong social game going on.. but I fear if she doesn't step it up on the tasks, they're gonna shoot her down! Hopefully she's going to be uncovered for the snake she is, just to see the drama unfold!
![]() But yes, I'd agree she is definately player of the season for me too. I would've said Dominic if him and Dani wasn't so foolish to getting caught.. |

You give Shelly way too much credit imo. I see this as abit like the Ronnie situation, while it's working it looks great but as soon as it starts to go wrong it falls apart spectacularly.
You mention that she'd only ever be a vote to the newbies yet what do you think she was to the vets? I think with the keys twist and bringing the vets back Shelly was always going to be safe early on. The vets would target Keith, Dom, Cassi while the newbies would go after the vets. Then as the bigger targets got voted out of each alliance she would have wormed herself into the fold of whichever side she'd took. Personally I feel like the main factor in her picking J+J over the other vets is that she likes them the most rather than they were the final targets for the newbies and therefore likely to be around longer. Targetting Cassi was a poor move. If they went up Cassi would always be the person who left and if they didn't then Cassi would have been very loyal to her down the line. Getting a golden key meant f all really especially when there was only one more week of the twist left. |

Shelly wasn't just a vote for the Vets, she was the vote, hence their desire to protect her. As opposed to not caring at all about Kalia, who also voted with them. By earning the Vets trust, she has put herself in the middle of the game and safe. Rather than just the tag along newbie she was otherwise destined to be.Quote:

Cassi was loyal to Dominic, Lawon and Keith. Besides, Shelly has a loyal Adam and a loyal J+J (at least upto F3). So why bother with Cassi when, to win, they all gotta go?

Ronnie's problem was winning HoH and having to show his hand. Shelly could win HoH, nominate Kalia and Lawon and get away scott free. Dani and whoever survived would still be going after Rachel. Indeed, Shelly set them up for this yesterday, when she told them she'd heard they were planning to nominate her.

Cassi would not have targetted Shelly until like the F4 at the very earliest. If they happened to go up so be it as Shelly is safe but don't engineer a situation where you're up on the block, it just isn't needed. She'd be in a much better spot with Cassi back and Kalia/Lawon (most likely Lawon) out in Jordan's HoH week. |

Engineering a situation where your on the block can actually be a decent thing if you know you've got the votes no matter what.
I believe we all applauded Matt for it last year when he volunteered to go with Monet, back when it seemed he actually had an outlandish plan to gain the trust of the house, and before it became clear he had no idea what he was doing! |

Cassi can't target her at all now though, can she? And about "engineering a situation......" tell that to Will Kirby.
![]() Ignoring that aspect the fact that Cassi can't target her at all now is irrelevant. The relevant question is whether Cassi would have targetted Shelly before Lawon/Kalia (or whoever had been put up instead of her) would target her and there is only one answer to that. |

Yes, engineering a situation where you're on the block against someone who is loyal to you is never a good thing though.

Doesn't the fact that she'd have lost the trust of about half the house with that vote make it a bad move?

I think it's unfair to comment on Shelly's challenge prowess yet. She's yet to compete for a veto, openly threw the first HoH to appear weak, (banana) and came a respectable third in the snowstorm endurance.
The only one she really messed up on was the golf, which she may or may not have thrown, and required a lot of luck really anyway. |

For those who thought Shelly was playing for J+J, it must come as a shock to discover how quickly she threw them under the bus, after Kalia won HoH. It doesn't shock me in the slightest. She is and has been playing everyone.
Long may she continue to do so. |
