Anyone else gone off sweet food as you get older?
I used to have a really sweet tooth, loved cakes, sweets etc etc. But Ive noticed in the last couple of years (I'm 58 now), I've really gone off them and now prefer savoury snacks.
Anyone else?. |

I'm 25 and I have pretty much always loved savoury snacks. I can take or leave sweet stuff. To be honest, if I never saw chocolate again it wouldn't bother me, crisps though are a different matter.

I'm 30 and definitely prefer savoury stuff to sweet these days, which wasn't always the case!
Although I do have a weakness for Haribo Tangfastics that have been kept in the fridge! |

I was thinking this the other day, a few years ago when I went out for a meal I'd always ask to have a look at the dessert menu before ordering, just so knew what there was and how much of a starter and main course I could manage so as not to interfere with a great pudding, nowadays I barely look at the dessert menu. I do still eat sweet stuff but just not in the quantities as before. That being said, I'm now very partial to a drop of vino when out for dinner and that doesn't really go with dessert so may be that's the reason I don't eat so much sweet stuff now.

I don't think I'll ever lose my sweet tooth. Desser for me is always the highlight of a meal out, I plan what I'm going to have first before even looking at starter and mains and even then there's usually five I want

As far as Cider goes I used to drink medium dry Cider like Strongbow and now I much prefer Magners which is quite sweet.
I've gone right off beer and spirits as well. I probably eat less chocolate and dessert than I used to. mainly because I now have to pay for them myself.. |

Never had a sweet tooth, even as a child. Now I am 49 and I start craving sugar more and more. That might have something to do with drinking almost no alcohol anymore.

I'd say I've gone the other way, actually. When I was younger, I was an extremely fussy eater, especially with regards to sweet foods. These days I can't get enough of it....funnily enough.

I'm 27 and I'm just not as keen on sweet food as I was years ago.
I may be imagining it, but I don't think my sense of taste is as strong as it used to be. |

When I was a child, I loved eating candies. I cut it off when I became an adult. For chocolates, I used to enjoy the milk one. I prefer to dark chocolate now.

Yes, I get a sugar rush if I eat to much sweet stuff. I need savoury to finish if I do.

I don't really like sweets or chocolate as a whole but the older I get I find I do like a desert after dinner followed by a nice coffee

I certainly have. Apart from adding a teaspoon of sugar to a homemade tomato sauce I don't use it at all. I never eat desserts or sweets, cakes etc. I suppose there is some sugar in processed food but I rarely eat that either.
