What's the best method to remove plaster coving from an artex ceiling? The house is about 30 years old, but has been papered throughout Why oh why paper when the walls were perfectly good? It's stipple like wall paper and not easy to remove. They even papered straight onto plasterboard which was a nightmare to remove although it was much easier on the proper walls. Doing the living room has taken many hours, and now the builder/plasterer who will be here in about 6 weeks wants me to remove the coving

The artex ceiling is going to be boarded over and skimmed for a nice smooth finish. Any walls that need doing will also be skimmed.

A paint/wallpaper scraper will do the trick, something along the lines of this http://www.toolsandhardwaredirect.co...6&item_id=5591
Just slide between coving and the ceiling and run it along between the two.

If the coving is in good condition and you have no problem with it just leave it on the ceiling, a plaster can easily plaster to it.
