For me it has to be this place- The Attic in Barcelona. Went there twice while I was on holiday because it was that good. The food was amazing and the view was beautiful to over look the la Rambla. I highly recommend it.

Where's yours?

King's College, Cambridge. The food is magnificent, and set in the spectacular environment it is truly amazing. (I am not a fan of Harry Potter but I believe they filmed part of a film in the dining hall).

The best meal I ever had was in Amsterdam, in a tiny (about 5 tables) restaurant in a creaky old wooden building. It was wickedly expensive, and I hadn't heard of half the food on the menu, but it was absolutely amazing, and I didn't begrudge a penny of the amount I paid for it. I would go back there tomorrow like a shot, despite the current size of my overdraft.

A little restaurant in the harbour at St Ives. Pan fried salmon on a bed of potato rosti with wilted spinach and hollondaise sauce. We'd had a lovely day on the beach, kids all old enough to sit and enjoy a meal with us, sun going down, lovely wine, sigh...

It wasn't an upstairs restaurant was it?

Edit: Oh and the best in terms of quality was Gordon Ramsay's in Royal Hospital Road.

My favourite however was an Italian (La Piazza II) in Bispham, Blackpool. The owner's personality made for a great atmosphere, and the food was quite nice too though that was secondary. Not been there for a few years so no idea if its still good.

Looks like its still good

For me, food is secondary to the experience, atmosphere, the people you are with, the memories it brings back.

One of most memorable was a road side cafe in India. We had been travelling all day and absolutely starving. Place was a complete dive and you have driven past it 99.99% of the time. Food was very simple, potato curry, chappaties, rice and dhal. Flies everywhere and not a pleasant smell from nearby sewer. But at that time the food was like nectar, had a view of an amazing sunset and great company. It was just one of those 'moment' things where so many things came together for that perfect moment.

I loved the Nascar cafe, we went on Thanksgiving Day and it was our 3rd choice after Bubba Gumps (closed) and Margaritaville (1 hour wait) and it was one of the best meals we had on holiday.

Texas De Brazil in Orlando is stunning as well.

A little restaurant in Paris, called Cafe du Suffren. I swear I've never tasted salad, chicken and potatoes as good as that.

Good times.
