Following free pass night it seemed to me as if the production team lost interest in the series and turned their attentions instead to UBB.
I found this little gem from John while reviewing the live feed tapes I have.
There was much speculation about what was going to happen over the next eleven days following the night's events and the housemates were in the kitchen. Corin was "buzzing" as usual.
Andrew: "They'll have something major planned."
John: "D'ya think?"
Andrew: "Yeah, definately."
Corin: "Yeah, it'll be amazing, it's real exciting innit?"
John: "I hope they don't just piss it up the wall 'cause they're banking on this extra two weeks like, to get their ratings there, d'ya know what I mean?"
"Because they're gonna get so many ratings for this two week thing I hope they don't just piss us up the wall and go stingy on us because they've got two weeks planned for the other. I hope they still try and go off with a bang."
Did John have a crystal ball or had he had enough dealings with the production team to have the measure of them?
Later in the evening John, JJ, Mario and Sam were in the bedroom and Sam had just come back from the diary room and was unpacking his suitcase. He was telling them how he had been asked about how he felt about surviving eviction and about Josie getting the ticket. They'd asked him was there anything else (usual stock question before opening diary room door) and he had told them the bed linen they'd been given didn't fit the beds. BB disagreed and said it did.
JJ: "It does fit."
John: "Nah, it doesn't."
Sam: "No it doesn't."
JJ: "Mine fits."
John: "It fits the singles, but not the doubles."
Sam agreed, and said he'd asked BB where their usual linen was as it wasn't very hygenic lying on the mattresses without linen. He was told he could leave the diary room and Sam asked them if BB could provide them with some more linen. BB said his comments had been noted.
So where had their usual linen gone, had the good stuff been taken away in preparation for UBB and they'd been given odds and sods?
John was also doing battle with BB over toilet roll. They'd asked earlier in the day for some as it was very low. There was half a roll left in the garden toilet but they'd forgotten to take it out before it was locked. They were still waiting eight hours later for toilet roll, there was none left in the house at all and despite them asking, the garden toilet remained locked. It was noted that the garden toilet was usually unlocked once they were given access to the garden again, but why not this time?
John: "They're f***ing useless, we've been waiting all day for loo roll."
JJ and Sam had their suitcases returned but Dave's hadn't come back. He'd requested it several times with no joy and was complaining that he was still in his eviction clothes. He went to bed still dressed in those clothes with no sign of his suitcase. To say he was not happy would be an understatement.
What was up with this production team? Had they all gone out on their 'jollies' for the night and left one person in charge who was running round like a headless chicken trying to cover all the bases, or was it simply that they 'couldn't give a flying f**k' to quote our little bit angry friend?
So did BB11 go out with a bang in the final week?
Sunday: Mexican party that they waited all day for and quite frankly at times was more like a wake.
Monday: Start of the ghastly and cheap 'Bob Righter' task. Let's face it bringing back a couple of housemates didn't cost them anything and the choices the housemates were given were pathetic. Talk about run out of ideas. The highlight of that night was the 'Rate Your Housemates' task that John and Dave had so much fun with much to the annoyance of some of the others.
Then of course production plans were thrown out of the window along with the flood water (serve them right) and after Friday night's eviction when we lost two of the biggest character's in John and Sam, we were treated to four days where watching paint dry would have been more exciting.
The remaining housemates were left shut in a room for hours at a time while the house was prepared for UBB and they were treated to a pamper day where the hairdresser only seemed to know how to cut one style. The guys all looked the same.
So for me the answer is a resounding no. More like a very damp quib.
